Hey /diy/ Whats your excuse for not joining diy transhumanism and modding your body yet? Are you a moralfag? or just pussying out? Or simply lazy?

Don't take it as too abrasive however. Odds are you are doing things already, like taking vitamins, stimulants and such.

In light of this, I'd like to ask you, =>

What do you guys do in diy transhumanism? Do you practice it? What exactly do you do? Links and research of any kind are welcome.

So seriously don't take it as abrasive, I want to see what diy does in this "field" and if not much, why not?

*Myself currently reading up and have some spare time to mainstream semi liquid diet[enough fiber to not clog pipes] and building muscles. I always wanted a better body, and I am trying to use shortcuts and such to help getting it FASTER.

I also abuse legal stims. Gage tolerance and how/when to use them and what effect I get. Record everything.

In terms of results? With significant increase of Leucine intake my muscle recovery so far sky rocketed. Its weird. I still can't do a crap ton in a row, but I recover without pains and cramps while I PUSH as hard as I can until I cramp, but cramps never return. So I consider a serious win. The only issue, it could be other factors involved, but I am going to conduct some isolated trials.*

Pic semi related. Eversor - Posterboy of stim abuse.

I guess this is the most recent thing I made. It's the back side of a dual stepper driver carrier board with Pololu stepper driver boards plugging in on the top side.
You can set microstep jumpers and place unused ones on an extra row of unconnected pins on the far right.
The whole thing connects to an arduino (or whatever µC you use) with a 20 wire ribbon cable.
It is a part for a larger project involving a printer that drives over the medium, enabling large scale prints with a compact printer.

And yes, I have a knack for clean designs when it comes to circuit boards. It makes it that much easier to analyze unusual behavior and find wiring mistakes. Also, this perfboard sucks. The little pads often lift off randomly. Sometimes I just need to apply some heat and they go off. ARGH need to find better quality ones.

You know, I'm looking at that PCB and thinking to myself that if I were to design how they are laid out, I think I'd make it into a bit of art, even if it sacrifices a little bit. Take for instance the traces between those two SMC chips. There's all that open space that can be used to make something cool out of the traces, instead of having them go in a straight line from one side to another. Yeah, the shorter the distance the better, but some cool things can be done with in tolerances. And, that is the least that can be done to make it look cool.

I rebuilt a band saw that was made in 1913. The platform you see on the base was for the optional pedal attachment (for mills that were not yet supplied with electricity). I removed some brackets and it made it my motor mount. Also added new neoprene tires (the rubber band around the wheels) and added bronze bushings to the internal parts (pics to follow). The most expensive part was new guides from Carter Products. I paid $75 for the saw and around $350 for a new set of guides.

I am full of posting fail this morning. Somewhere is an image of my band saw floating around. Anyways, I used said band saw to make this out of 1" Red Oak: 8'x4'. Stained, then 3 coats of shellac, then wax finish. I made my own wax: 1 part Carnuba, 3 parts bee's wax, heat in a double boiler, add some turpentine, then pour it in a large, empty can to cool.

Each shelf is sitting in a dado I cut with my RAS. I then secured each shelf with 2 screws and covered the holes with plugs I drilled out of some scraps. The back is just a sheet of 1/4" plywood, sanded and stained to match. Took me about 2 months - just working on it when I had the time.

you're right division sucks, but in most cases you can optimize it out so that you d it as little as possible. for example, the sw renderer only did 1 divide per triangle, and it stored it in recpricoal form. then it was multiplied against that for the remainder of the bounding box

for clock division, there are PLLs for that, i.e. my base block is 50mhz and i generate a 50.35 for the 25.125mhz vga clock, 100mhz logic, and 133mhz DDR ram

back while I was still in college (stopped now) i found that even common HDL design methods blew the minds of all the supposed profs. that's just the way it is

The teacher had a basic design. I modified it a bit to my taste. The boiler is a large copper pipe. The boiler end caps were made with two machined steel forms (not sure if right word) that you put a sheet of copper (cut from an junked hot water service tank) in between then pressed together in the vice. All parts were unmachined raw metal to start with. We poured the aluminium flywheel in a steel tin can then machined it.

One thing I would do differently if I built it again is make the conrod shorter and the steam pipe bigger.

Sorry for the small resolution. I've tried uploading a higher res and it times out because rural dialupfag.

And, if you're going to make a single-pickup guitar, why not add a few more frets? I did 27 frets on my guitar because there's nothing else there anyways. Not that I need them, but in turns access to the higher frets is better because the fretboard is longer and neck heel nearer to the bridge.

Thanks for asking though.

I like the extra fret idea. I think I will take your advice and see if I can find someone interested. What do you figure costs for your 8 string were said and done?

>> No.302569

>>302519
Mine cost me around 800 USD in materials (I had some odd choices that were difficult to find), but a luthier should probably know where to get things a bit cheaper. 7-string hardware is cheaper than 8-string hardware... an Original Floyd Rose will cost you nonetheless. I had to buy most of the tools for this though, so I ended up spending around 1200 USD + lots of time. Most of the tools can be re-used for totally different diy-stuff.
I think full customs start around 1500 - 2000 USD depending on who is making it.

Some recent leather/costume projects. Gearing up for TRF on Nov 10th.

This bag took me a day from design, pattern, and completion. I had already made the piece of antler for the closure from Super Sculpey the week before, and the bone-like piece on the ends of the bag strings. Front/back/flap made from veg-tanned leather and various surface methods. Walnut calfskin for the sides/bottom piece, and deerskin lace (black and brown) for putting it all together. The inside is lined with heavy black suede. Thinking of adding a bit of rabbit fur on the underside of the flap.

More pics of pieces to follow.

This wide belt is veg-tanned leather, surface-dyed-and-painted, CH-42 finished and buffed. Pouch is for my cell-phone and is made from scrap leather (pebble-grain and some top-grain buckskin). I am proud of the way these came out, and how well it sits on my waist, holding in my small beer gut.

These pauldrons are also veg-tanned leather, same finishing techniques as the bag and belt, also featuring a pigskin pupil on the large eyes. Skin around eyes is dark green, very low contrast to black. Hand-painted eyes, pauldrons took 2 days from start to finish. Both have rabbit fur accents around the bottom edges, and heavy suede arm loops. Has straps and d-rings for connection to separate armor pieces.

These are things to hang from the back of my shoulders, reaching just past my waist, not long enough to sit on though. They are mandala wool, spiral-wrapped with deerskin and topped with clasps for attaching to armor. Obviously just vanity decoration for accessorizing the ensemble. Looks great with the red scarf tucked under the armor and looped once around the neck. Full body pics will be posted after all is completed. Working on some boots now.

Thank you. Leatherworking has been an on-off hobby of mine for about 8 years, slowly amassing better tools and looking for satisfactory prices on leather. Tandy's leather is too expensive unless you get things on sale. I buy from eBay if I am not 100% concerned for accuracy in color for soft leathers, and most of my veg-tanned leather comes from Tandy sales, or theleatherguy.

But you're exactly right.
Mold is out of melamine with caulk in the inside corners.
Black grid is carbon fiber reinforcement.
Normal concrete with a touch of black pigment added.
Void to form the skirt was created by holding a piece of two inch insulation foam in place with sandbags as the concrete cured.
Polished (to 800 I think) with a standard concrete grinder.
