Since this is the /diy/ board I have no issues completely giving away how I made these. I bought a cheap wooden chess set, peeled off the cheap green felt that was under the pieces and replaced it with red. I just cut circles, soaked them in glue + water and stuck them on. The reason I soaked them is to prevent them from going all fluffy from wear. Drill a hole down the base with the smallest drill you can find, and done.
(Also I ended up repainting the black queen I used for my necklace because the original paintjob was terrible)

I don't actually. I wouldn't mind getting commissions, but tbh the thought also scares me. I hate overcharging for things, and my skills are not at a level where I can turn this sort of stuff out at a rate at which I could ask a reasonable price for my time. I'm also a bit of a perfectionist so I'm really afraid of selling something that isn't perfect.
The hoodie took me about a day to make because I was figuring everything out as I went, I could probably do it in half a day now, but that would still put it at about 60-70 euros if I paid myself what I would make at a shitty call center job for my time.

Maybe I should be less afraid of asking higher prices for my stuff and start on etsy or something, but idk, I don't know if I can beat the market.

If memory serves, I used a regular 3oz pack of jell-o, and 3 packs of unflavored gelatin. Since there's 4 packs in a box, and the box is 1oz, I guess I used 0.75oz of gelatin. Used the directions for making normal jell-o, and added the extra gelatin after stiffing the jell-o into the hot water. Its hard to get it all to dissolve, though, so I recommend using more water (maybe 50% more?) and just cooking it down after everything is dissolved. Add the gelatin slowly, a little at a time.

I made this.
Brass and aluminum. Wrote a program and made the pieces in a cnc-lathe.

The cut out some aluminum sheets and screwed them together with a nut in between to space them apart.
Brushed the aluminum and done. Really simple, but i think it turned out pretty good.

Pretty simple tbh.
Take some wire cutters and clip the top most part of the tabs and do an over under weave. You can solder it if you'd like, but they hold together pretty well on their own and you can always reuse/reconnect tabs that fall off or break.
One of the biggest pros to this is for LARPers or Cosplayers. It gives the same look as mail or scale armor, minus the annoying weight associated with it.

The dragon eyes are just two glass beads (glass or metal only... plastic might melt when you cook the clay) and the head is made from sculpey III (its the non colored pink stuff that comes in a one pound block... it is more rigid than super sculpey and can hold texture and shape better)... then it was cooked and hardened, then painted, and then glued to the book.

The "leather belt" is craft foam with a buckle. I would probably use a real belt in the future, just because craft foam is a little fragile for how a sketchbook is supposed to be used.

The other embellishments other than the belt are just painted on.

The sketchbook is so pricey in itself, (10 or 15 bucks) so I'd be hard pressed to sell it for what it is worth in time and profit... I want to be able to sell them for like 20 or 25$ while making profit on my time and materials. Maybe one day ill buy some sketchbooks bulk or something and make it work.

Best way is to get some cheap newyears eve safety glasses, add watchparts, nuts and bolts and other goodness of random materials that your house has to offer.

Then mask of the areas you want to remain clear with tape, then spraypaint the glasses.

After the paint is try, remove the tape, and give the goggles a onceover with some drybrushing.

Otherwise check the instructables website and search for goggles.

On the one you quoted I didn't use pins at all, the technique i used meant that the metal wasn't annealed and never got any softer than the final product, so it was too hard - just used epoxy on that one..

On the others, i drilled 6mm holes in the tang (metal handle area that's sandwiched by the wood if you didn't know) before hardening, and then used that as a guide to drill more 6mm holes in the wooden i was using for scales. Then it was just a case of lots of epoxy everywhere, 6mm brass pins through the holes, and shape handle to what you see in teh pics above.

Here's one that I didn't carve that's a good example of how elaborate they can get. This one's way above my skillset, though. And here's the summary from Wikipedia:

>A Lovespoon is a wooden spoon decoratively carved that was traditionally presented as a gift of romantic intent. The spoon is normally decorated with symbols of love, and was intended to reflect the skill of the carver. Due to the intricate designs, lovespoons are no longer used as functioning spoons and are now decorative craft items.

entirely doable, I made the axles from scratch myself, they're fully functional, I'd just need to mount a motor beneath the chassis and use a chain on the back wheel.

steering however would be a whole nother ball game.

http://www.greenpete.co.uk/knife-making/knife-making-video/ - it's a bit of a watch but it takes you through the basics really well. It's the very first think I learned about knife making and what started me off down this road.

My first completed blade was made just like the videos, except I didn't anneal the file it was made from, I just tempered it to the correct hardness and worked it in it's hardened state. Slight PITA because it took longer to shape, but good because it meant I had no hardening to fuck up (in later attempts doing it the proper way I did fuck up a fair few times, it took a bit of practice). That's why it has no handle pins too, as i didn't have any cobalt (i think that's what's needed) drill bits to chop through the hard metal for the pin holes. It's doable though.

Now that I can make a knife by stock removal I'm interested in trying forging one, seems like the next step...

Knife making = basics are simple enough with a bit of practical skill, but if you want to go deeper there's always more to learn, forever.

first thing i ever done sewed, like a week ago. a felt lined case for my ereader. it's shit-tastic but effective. also took like 10 minutes.

go on youtube and watch a video on how to thread a needle and how to do backstitch. then get a sewing kit from the dollar store, a piece of felt, and a piece of fabric. and then sew some quick cheap cases to protect your stuff. super easy.

This is my Assassin's Creed hidden blade.

It's gravity operated with a pullstring/ring mechanism. No springs or shit like that. I made it all from aluminum I got from Lowe's and used my dremel to cut out each piece. I didn't want to make one of those drawer slide ones because they're unsafe. I wanted something that would allow me to be able to run and shit without the blade accidentally anything. Here's a video of the finished project and a pic of multiple angles and before it's buckles and paint.

Ah, I failed to mention the tape on the back is to hold a cushion padded aluminum piece on. I didn't glue it on because I wanted to be able to take the blade out and such if it ever damaged/broke. I used Gorilla glue to piece it all together since I don't have, nor can afford at the moment a torch to weld shit and soldering it didn't seem like it would be a durable idea. So far, the only thing that has go wrong with it is the string snapping, so now I have a small chain connected to a ring on my pinky. No snap thus far.
