Hi!! I crocheted a nice butterfly and made the wings out of cardboard and some glitter glue and the antennae are a metallic wire and pink pompoms! I think it's pretty cute (◡‿◡) Do you crochet stuff anons???

I think it's pretty toxic to assume anything about my body just because I like crocheting cute animals so how about no?? It may shock you but hobbies can be done by anyone and I think people would be a lot happier if hobbies were less gendered. Just because I like crocheting stuff I don't have to be female and I don't have to be a guy because I like playing games lol anyone can do those things ANYONE, you, me! My job is cool because it's like truly neutral. I look after kids and play vidya with them which is like "feminine" stuff combined with "masculine" stuff and I have both male and female colleagues and the kids I have in my groups are not just boys but there are also girls so this thing shows how idiotic it is to think about stuff in some absolute binary thing instead of pretty neutral things that culture has assigned some labels but the labels are really pretty arbitrary or come from some old stuff that's not relevant anymore like how good wives would sew and knit and crochet and stuff and then the idea of those as something girly is blocking you guys from even trying. Idk I could build stuff too if I'd practice and somehow got stronger but I honestly hated all the woodwork stuff we did at school because I hardly could use any tools and it took me ages to saw through stuff and the machines scared me (but painting the products was fun!) and my creations were bad... But anyhow throw your gender labeled ideas of hobbies in the rubbish bin and you can then drop that asshole attitude more easily

>>2548083
I'd personally prefer some pattern like the one on the right but it will be much harder for sure... A striped tube is easy to make esp if you first crochet a long enough chain and then close it into a ring and then just go on as if nothing was weird while sometimes changing the colour the obvious way (that's what I did with the second bee! >>2547133). A more complicated pattern is something I don't know any good way to get yet... maybe with 2 hooks or something. I have cute mittens with a panda pattern and I'd love to be able to make something similar!

yeah you need a smaller hook, with amigurumi it's good to go 1-2 sizes smaller than what the package says. Also safety eyes are really cheap and look miles better than glued on eyes (ik from experiece i used to make black circles with thread and glue them on it looked really bad) or buy a pack of buttons and sew them on for a more vintage-y look i really like that with my dragons (i'd love to post it but i already gave it to my nephew)

i can compile a list of some patterns later if you'd like, if you are going to the craft store try looking for something with natural fibres for wearable projects because acrylic yarn is really suffocating and can be itchy or it can be really soft it's a gambe. I made some handwarmers with acrylic yarn and they had me sweating in freezing temperatures
Now for the hats, what style are you thinking? I've made a few beanies and there are some that are worked in the round like amigurumi and some where you just make a rectangle and sew it together (these can look good if you only work in one loop of the stitch so it looks ribbed like knit)

Thanks for this tip! Although I'm pretty sure there's navy blue in the yarn product family I've been using which is all natural but I'll be sure to check next time I go buy those!!!

A beanie is probably the safest option. I'd love to make some cat or bear ears on his beanie but I know he'd never ever use it if I did that... So I'd say a round amigurumi-esque beanie is the thing I'll be making and it has to be navy blue apparently so yeah that's pretty much it! But if you have some pattern links I'd def be interested!

the stitches look much more defined!
Also, do you make these from patterns or are they freeform? if you know how to read patterns try this one it's really cute https://www.supergurumi.com/amigurumi-crochet-bear-pattern
also try building the animals with spheres it looks better than a long tube and gets you comfortable with sewing and joining the pieces together
For spheres start with 6 single crochet and increase the stitch count by 6 each round (6, 12, 18, 24, 30..) until you get a good size, do a few more rounds without increases, and then do the same thing in reverse with decreases (and if you want the decreases to leave smaller holes only use the front loops (the ones closer to you))

That bear is so C U T E!! <3 I wanna make one or maybe a lot! So far I've been just doing stuff out of my own head practicing how to do the basic stuff correctly but haven't learned how to follow instructions yet... I learned the basics at school but it's so long ago and then a friend of mine said she could imagine me crocheting more than knitting and I'm ESL so I was like "wait wtf is crocheting????" and then I found out it's the nice thing I liked when I was still a little creature, and my therapist liked it when I told him I've been learning how to make animals. But because I'm still a noob and those are full of those letter codes like sc and stuff I decided not to start with instructions other than how to do the stitches but I guess I could be ready to follow those now! I'll follow your guide to making spheres thanks!!

Well you already have pretty light blue and dark red so maybe continue the red with a light purple (or the blue with dark purple) and the light purple you can continue with a dark blue (or the dark purple you can continue with a light red) and then you won't have too many different colours in the scarf and it's easier to find clothes to wear with it!

If we think of the two blues as just blue that's already 3 distinct colours and you'll then have a jacket, a hat, some kind of gloves, some kind of pants, some kind of shoes etc which will also have colours so it will easily turn into a huge rainbow or imbalanced etc so I'd rather not mix yellow there but idk I'm pretty much a goth who breaks the overall blackness with some white/silver and a little bit of red so idk I may have a biased view...

learn single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, increase, decrease
repeat them a few times until you get the hang of it
find patterns that interest you
most patterns use those 3 stitches if there is anything more complex the pattern will explain the exact process
just make what you want and learn new stitches as you need them
once you have a few projects under your belt and know how to read patterns google how to write an original pattern
boom you can make original projects

some things you can search on yt make under a few hours as beg projects:
granny squares (can be used as motifs for larger projects)
amigurumi octopus (this was my first project)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWx_fXVErXU
hand warmers/leg warmers/hats that are just rectangles sewn in a particular way

It's very cute, anon!

The subhumans that disagree are not actually sentient beings - they have no souls, no self-awareness.
In a sense, they're actually WORSE than animals, because animals provide a function within the ecosystem.
These "things", these automatons, they can only CONSOOM and parasetise.

The only function they have is to be used as slaves, or as physical fuel - they are wastes of oxygen, and must be treated as a disease which carries a caloric value.
Since cannibalism is bad (although, is it cannibalism if they aren't actually human?), the only thing one can do is ferment their corpses and use it to power a biogas generator.

I despise "humans" that have no appreciation for cute things.
In fact, I despise them to an almost unimaginable degree.
I think that butterfly is really fucking comfy, and I would pay you $50 to have one just like it.

God I hate NPC automatons that hate nice things.

I do tons of stuff. Knit, crochet, cross-stich, sew, mess around with electronics, etc.

The spider in the middle of the Spiderman afghan is crocheted. I make afghans for my niece and nephew and am working on my master of hand knitting. I prefer to knit but I crochet quite often, as well.

I think your butterfly is pretty cute and a nice idea, but the wings sort of suck a little bit. I would remake them with felt or crochet them to match the body. I've been learning to sew by making these small frogs. This board needs more craftwork threads and less people complaining about electricity threads so keep up the good work and practice hard : )
