He also let his neighbor drive the car I was letting him use. He has spent the last month calling me and texting me begging for his job back and saying I owed him money. You vastly overestimate the functionality of modern phone systems. I dont know about the small business pitfalls, but in the 12000 employee Corp I'm in the phones have not entirely been able to call out or receive reliably ever since they switched over to teams phones. They were for a few months randomly deauthing themselves every 3 weeks or so. Something to do with their time desyncing with the server where they're supposed to receive time settings from. Except they dont. Sound quality is atrocious, making it nigh impossible to discern anyone who is in a noisy situation or has an accent. A month ago there was a week where all external calls were just completely silent. Oh, and from when you pick up the phone till when you are connected and talking takes literally 8 seconds.
Luckily I mostly dont need them myself, and on the rare occasions when I do I'm far more preoccupied by the ongoing fact that the Dept of Revenue's phone system is also never working when I need to call them. Literally 5 years of their phones not connecting properly or switching numbers or whatever. We have a half dozen contact sheets for them, not that any of them help when theres an emergency that requires us calling them. Three times we've gotten them to provide a general purpose number for us to use to get whoever is present, 2 of those numbers literally never worked, 1 worked for about a month.
Fucking punchline of it all is there is one connection that has never once failed or been problematic the entire time: The fax line. The fax line has been perfectly reliable for us and for the DoR the whole time.

yup, already discussed this with her. would like to avoid court if necessary but I told her at least a letter from a lawyer might have to be a thing that happens because of the stuff above

they're a large company, but it's a pretty open and shut case with evidence and that fact that they are both brown women (no muh raysisum or secksism), if they try to bluff thinking we won't call it id imagine they'd fold with how much they'd have to lose no matter how large their army of men in suits and tiny hats. on the flip side, the main reason she hasn't left is because she enjoys the work and the company and makes literally 40% more than she should be making for her position and has been for years. not something we want to just give up without a fight nor worth a small payout, especially in the current year and foreseeable future.
