I can get this to start if I squirt fuel down the carb or in the spark plug hole, but then it'll run then stall when the fuel runs out. Fresh fuel in tank. Picked this up earlier today with using it to play around with shit like casting own piston for it etc.

As far as I can tell the carb is not sucking up any fuel
>Inb4 press priming bulb dummy
There is none anywhere, and there doesn't appear to be one missing either, fuel line runs straight into the carb from the tank, I've tried opening up that big flat head screw too.

What do?

If it's been sitting, the diaphragm has likely gone stiff or is broken, or the needle is gunked up with old fuel. Go google up a teardown/cleanup video, all of these shitty little 2 strokers are basically the same shit, different zheng.

Nigger what the fuck are you talking about?

Melting and casting some aluminium and turning a piston, I bought this off some old guy to play with rebuilding the engine in it.

Yes anon, I can read the words you typed, i'm just not sure you grasp the complexity of the bullshit you're spouting.

How are you, a dude who cannot recognise the most common fault mode of a two stroke engine, going to machine your base cast to a perfect (like, within thousands of an inch) shape? How you gunna bore the gudgeon pin hole perfectly squarely? How are you going to machine the retainers for said pin? How are you going to ensure the piston is not smashing against the top of the cylinder or so far away it does not compress enough for proper ignition?

TL:DR; Nigger what the fuck are you talking about?

It do. There be no return gas line to tank, only one line, so it don’t work off pressurised fuel tank and bulb primer.

>> No.2443768

Easy.
You need to take it apart - probably 2 screws or bolts/nuts from the front into the engine. Be careful with to keep the gaskets in one piece when getting the carb out. Might have to remove the spring holding the throttle body in Position - again, be careful.

Then you can take the carb apart, clean the injecting part or diagnose a defective membrane. I can give more specific info about all the shit but I'll wait for pics.

>> No.2443957

>>2443768
Have done so, soaked overnight in airgun thinners. Shaked lots of dirt out. Clean now. Gaskets in one piece. Not sure why the issue persists. Says Walbro 248 on the side, but diagrams for this show a primer bulb, mine is just a plate, and no where for a return line to come out of and fuel tank has only has the one line and port/nozzle for the fuel, not 2. Ill use a syringe to suck fuel up the line, and hold it upside down and re-connect the line.

>>2443775
Doubt, its cleaned out now, but Ill probs take apart and do it again

Do it again with carb or brake cleaner.

Better yet, cook it in an ultrasonic cleaner with pine-sol.

Already used brake cleaner, don't have ultrasonic. Pic relayed, I am not tripping in thinking this is a bulbless design and does not pressurise the fuel tank right?

As in it’s not missing any parts right? That little U clamp with the screw looks like where the return line goes on a model with a bulb, the plate in the pic is where the diaphragm sits and where a bulb normally goes, but obvs not missing from the top of the plate

Easy mode is remove it whole and soak in a bag filled with parts cleaner. Actuate the moveable parts and give it a few shakes. Let this soak for at least 2 hours. I did this with my snowblower and it works fine.

Done that with airgun thinner. Sprayed out with brake parts cleaner too. Currently apart again and soaking again after using a needle in every hole to make sure it was clear

Rebuild kits are cheap, handy to get something running in a pinch I guess, but I'd rather just do a rebuild if I'm going full retard on a clean out.

Without a ultrasonic cleaner you will have to clean the injecting part mechanically. There can be dirt so small you can't see it.

>> No.2444618

Lol. those crappy two stroke carbs always have some stupid plastic diaphragm inside that cracks and breaks and in 99% of cases it's some non standard Chinese design that's not worth buying replacement parts for. Just get a new carburettor that fits.

You can certainly clean any of those jets. Use bright light and a magnifying glass. I soak in undiluted Pine-Sol (better than the sad excuse for commercial carb cleaners after methylene chloride was taken away) but a quick way is hold them in forceps then heat with a lighter or torch until the varnish extrudes. A strand if bicycle cable is nice for poking too.

OP really needs to goto Youtube for chainsaw videos. An important part of /diy/ is knowing what NOT to look for here.

17yo 50cc racing kids did it all the time when I was young. 1 thou isn’t that much for a lathe and theres a lot more margin than you guys think. Most low power 2 stroke engines are designed for cheap manufacturing anyway. If you put new piston spring(s) you can be 3 or 4 thou off in diameter as long as the ports are smooth ish. If it’s too long/short put a thicker gasket or shave the head a bit and it will still have the right compression.
