I'm a total noob that just bought a stick welder, looking to get a welding helmet with the auto dark feature. Suggestions?

Found this one for sale, used for $39.99, thoughts?

fuck these losers.
Even the cheapest autodarkening helmet is great for the home diyer. It's going to make your life So much easier compared to the fixed shade #10.
What these fuckknobs don't realize is that even if the autodarkening feature isn't responsive/reliable enough it will still block all the harmful UV and you have this sensitive organ that tells you how well the helmet is working-- it's called your eyes.
Even the cheapest harbor freight one is functional

How much of that UV radiation is filtered through the auto dark compared to the regular optical filters?

>and you have this sensitive organ that tells you how well the helmet is working-- it's called your eyes.

How does it tell you if it's UV radiation?

You can use one of these helmets all day and not have any issues with itchy eyes or other typical UV related problems, and the lenses are ANSI tested just like the lenses in a Miller or other brand helmet.

Should I go with this one if I'm just stick welding?

Or will I be good with this?

Fixed shade glass is much more clear than autodarkening filter for $40.
Idk about you, but you can't beat seeing metal puddle with waves in it and shit in it for $15 in my opinion.
>but i dont see shit
Light is a key.

By having sore eyes after welding and wanting to kill yourself. But I think even sunglasses block most of the light.

blinking willl fuck up your eyes, if you must weld without a visor then brace your hand as steady as possible and actually face away from it or sheild your eyes with your left hand
do not fuckin face the welder without a visor eyes shut or not, it will melt your eyes through your eyelids.

No one "must" weld without PPE except thirdies too stupid to stack cheap sunglasses.

Just like >>2443162 said. Autodarkening is great. And you won't be snapping you're head forward. I have regular helmet on standby, as well as an autodarkening. Just got this the other day. 3.94”×3.82” Large Viewing Welding Hood, GoGonova Auto Darkening True Color Solar/Battery Powered Welder Mask, 4 Arc Sensor Wide Adjustable Shade DIN 5-9/9-13 for SMAW, MIG, TIG, GTAW https://a.co/d/alrlPQm
Other than the head band being a bit goofy, it's great so far.
