my Moebius scarf is gay

for some reason, it's half purl half knit. it's long as all get out, too. 150 stitches. i wasn't sure how many stitches to cast on. some people said 200, some said 80.

it can wrap around my neck 3 times. i've been wearing it around like a hijab.

i only knitted 16 rows. any more rows and my needles would have exploded.

what did i do wrong?

are those some bare titties hidden behind that scarf?

And no idea, never knitted, but it looks like itd be comfy to wear compared to the llama fur scarf my friend got me from Peru, itches like a mofo.

i knit in the nude. knitting is so extreme for me that it raises my core temperature and i end up sweating like crazy so i've learned to knit nude

tis pretty comfy tho. wool/acrylic blend.

llama fur? the reason farmers shave their llamas is cause even llamas hate their own fur

dont know if i should have a chub or not.

And yeah its almost unbearable. I mean its warm but ughh.
Wool is nice though.
Are there ways of making scarves in kind of a tube shape? Like you can stuff it full of goose down to make it even warmer?

leave her be. that being said, if she felt like flashing boobs, knowing she was a maker would be a real turn on, but she didnt flaunt or even mention it, someone just noticed she had tits.

i'm not particularly sure whata knit/perl combo does to the scarf, but itf it's comfy, then its comfy.

oh hm tube scarf you say?
this one is fairly tubular, most likely from being a knit/purl combo.

for all of my tube-shaped knitting needs, i've knitted a piece and sewn the edges together. had to make knitted tubes for my pony's legs. well, his whole body, really. knitted tubes sewn to knitted tubes.

however, i do believe actual tube-knitting requires double-pointed needles. those are for the crafty knitters...

there's also the i-cord, which is a rope-like knitting... stitch. i-cord can be used for handles on bags, draw strings, maybe even the strings that hold your knitted bikini together.

i like your idea of tube scarf.

yes, actually. i don't understand much past DPNs other than they join stitches together in a round.

scok knitting is a very skilled craft. one day i'll be level 35.

do you hand sew or use a machine? i've got a question

lol i thought it was a wizard joke.
I turn the item inside out, double thread the string, then stitch it slowly.
Takes some getting used to but holds the fabric for awhile til you do something retarded lol

You used alpaca for a scarf?
That's going to stretch like a mofo.
I suggest you frog it and start over. You twisted the stitches (in a bad way) and continued trying to work in stockingnet, the backside of stockingnet is all purl.
>>240883
Yes, you can either knit it flat and sew or use DPNs or Circular needles to knit a tube from the beginning.
You should try it OP, it's not that hard.
>>240925
That's basically it. You knit in a tube. You also don't have to purl if you're doing stockingnet, which makes it easier to knit continental, which makes it faster. Circular needles are easier though.
>>240946
Use a backstitch and more, smaller stitches.
Or if you're using a machine you need to set it to a V stitch, which is made specifically for hemming.

So I assumed you didn't like it.
If you knitted it flat then you just knitted in the wrong direction.
You can't really just go "IT'S WRONG, WHAT DID I DO!?" Without showing/telling the pattern you used.

>> No.241258

i used circular needles to knit it, using Cat Bordhi's cast-on instructions.

didn't use a pattern. cast-on, then knit. i figured there wasn't a use for a pattern.

Holy fucking shit this thread

>>for some reason, it's half purl half knit
That ... means you did it right. If you still can't figure out why you have half knit, half purl, pick a spot, start tracing around the scarf until you get back to the same spot, and then just sit and think about it.

It's physically impossible to have two sides of knitting on a one sided scarf. You can disguise it with ribbing, or a seed stitch.

>>some people said 200, some said 80.
In the previous thread about this, I said that I cast on anywhere from 120 to 200 st. in sport weight yarn on #4 needles, my gauge is roughly 6 stitches per inch.

The number of cast on stitches is determined by your gauge. If you cast on 120 stitches in a worsted weight yarn, it's going to be a whole lot bigger than my sport weight scarf, because worsted is usually 4 st. per inch on #8 needles, rather than 6.

Here's the scarf in question, the joint is covered up by the twist, but hopefully this should be enough to make sense of what I'm talking about.

>> No.241535

>>240848
You did 1/2 of it with 1 needle in your right hand, then you somehow switched it/flipped it and that needle ended up in your left hand, flipping the work and making the stitch 'backwards'. Happened to me the 1st time I used circular needles. Paint one of the needles with a bit of nail polish to differentiate and you won't run into the trouble again.

hey. no need for the language.

no, Moebius scarfs still does not make sense to me. was too intense to knit. will try crocheting it next time. or i'll start a smaller version of this monster.

eh, but why did it suddenly switch k/p after 7 rows? 7 isn't even a multiple of 150.

>> No.241656

>>241612

The number of rows you knit has absolutely nothing to do with the number of stitches you cast on. I'm assuming since you actually knit the damn thing, you'd know that with the moebius cast on, you're basically knitting from the center outwards. The "switch" occurs for the same reason it would occur if you were to knit a flat scarf, and twist it into a moebius. Like I said, it's physically impossible to have two sides to a one sided object, so you get both "sides" on a single face. Think of it like a folded over figure 8.

>> No.242235

>>241985

Unless you're doing a seed stitch or ribbing, you should only be knitting. The scarf itself will "switch" in the middle, and you'll see purl when you've only been knitting. If you were doing anything other than a knit stitch, then yeah, you fucked up somehow. A moebius scarf if still going to have that switch in the middle either way.

wait... or, find a sock pattern you like, make the foot, and then make the ankle part as long as your leg. unless you just want giant leg warmers that go from ankle -> knee.
however it is, you'll need a set of double pointed needles to make a giant tube.
