JUst a big thanks to whoever made me the 3 stencils. hope i did it a slight bit of justice. Was my first attempt at a 3 layer stencil. 2nd attempt at stenciling at all :P so yeah. Thanks :)

Honest question here, as I have legitimately never watched the show, but this board seems to have a special boner for Breaking Bad. Why is that?

I can only answer for the non-boner side. I watched a handful but stopped. The Wire ruined TV series for me. Which is fine with me. Unless something else grabs me to that extent I just don't give a shit to give it hours and hours that a series takes.

For example Walter was a cool character and pretty bad ass, and it was an interesting idea, but I just didn't give a shit to spend hours keeping up with for example his bitch wife who he did the whole thing for.

Nice work though. What did you cut the stencils out of?

I was thinking of finding a way to make stencils of pic related but I think it'd be better if I can make it life size and keep all the detail instead.

Sorry to have contributed nothing to the stencil cause. Here's a nice one actually, cut around the middle and make any picture into a view between some thighs and pussy lips.

Thanks :) Used an X-acto knife for cutting, then used laminated sheets of the stencil, i also sometimes use acetate sheets for usually bigger jobs but it depends if i can be assd. I dont really have a boner for anything lol but from what ive seen its a good show and tbh the pic is pretty badass alone. Im just doing a whole wall full of people. My next one im making is a 3 layer of john lennon. just needing to buy another can and ill have it sorted. Pic related my first ever acetate spray. pretty shitty single layer

Oh nice, I had figured it wouldn't even work as a 3-layer.

If you feel like trying, even leave #52 out, I was planning on cutting out around #36 anyway.

I was going to simplify the pattern on the gloves, and try to use green and yellow for 2 layers. I thought about trying 5 layers with green, yellow, brown, black and use silver for the football and in place of the white. But I've never seen a 5-layer one so for 3 I was thinking green, yellow and silver and making all the skin silver too, and just changing all the black to green.

you're probably right...it would look great with just #36 as #52 has his head cropped out of the pic anyway.
The way i make them is by mapping the light density, so the different parts of the uniform wouldnt have their own layer, it would instead be gradiated overall.
I dont mind giving it a shot, but i think it would turn out better the way you are planning it

Haha thanks man :) It was on canvas, made it a lil bit trickier. This John lennon one is about 8 x the size and on mdf so should be good (hopefully) Yeah i got a couple of images i guess i want to try out, one for my girlfriend cause she saw it and wanted to do her own so i was like yeah ok :) But yeah keep an eye out should be up in the next 2 days if this thread is dead in that time ill post up a new one. Pic related. If you could, or any other image of Hayley Williams you think will look best. Thanks again :)

no worries...yeah, working on canvas can be a bit fiddly, but its nice to have something you can transport around or give as presents..or even sell!!.
Lennon will look great blown up big....protip: to save on printer ink on big jobs, take the stencil into MSpaint and use the "fill" tool to change the black areas to very pale grey. I used to burn through a lot of ink till i started doing that.
I'll keep an eye out for the pic you mentioned. In the meantime here's Hayley

I'm developing some software that maps the light intensity/density of an image.Its pretty flakey at the moment but im going to open source it when its stable enough. I have to do a lot of mopping up and tidying in photoshoop afterwards but i think i'm starting to see some good results now. Practising on images on /diy/ is really heping.

Thats excellent. You've handled the shading very well. Them pearly whites that moot has are going to be tricky to bridge though. Post it up when you've finished it

I don't think that would work as a single layer without losing pretty much all the detail. Theres only so much bridging you can do without it getting ridiculous.
I put together a 3 layer you might be able to use. Don't worry if it's not the kind of thing you wanted, it was good practice for me to make.

dear diary: returned to find everything sprayed down; re-tagged.

well thats just dandy. painted the black background white for obvious reasons, believed it was dry enough. sprayed the bottom layer. lo0oking good, sprayed the second layer good, oh whats this? its caught. rips off the cheek of john lennon base spray. moral of the story. wait xD but yeah. will have it done tomorrow now. just need to re spray everything. other than the cheek it looked aight :P

if you want a reusable stencil that will last for years through heavy abuse get a 5 star note book with the plastic front cover, and use it to cut your stencil out of

i love the composition..it works really well
glad to see you got it finished despite your "hiccup"...if its any consolation i've made the same mistake a few times too. I spend ages carefully cutting out a stencil and when it's finally finished i want to get the painting done in under 10 minutes to see what it looks like.

Nah how good the Lennon one turned out, you make it look possible. I just meant when I look around on other sites I see stuff that makes it look a lot harder to make it so clean.

something could be done with the bottom text perhaps, but the logo is very unforgiving.
I think a single layer stencil would look good though. It would need a couple of bridges on the treble cleff but thats all. check back in a day or so

If you feel like it and have the time, and think it'd work, I'd like to paint this as a 3-layer and would report back with finished work.

It's the Pakistani doctor who said he was giving vaccines, to get a DNA sample from a family member in bin Laden's compound and confirm it was the right place to raid. Now he's been sentenced to 30+ years for treason. I'd like to try it with Pakistan flag green as the main color instead of black, and mostly likely lighter shades of green or maybe gray for the other 2 layers.

I don't know what's hanging in front of his head but this seems to be the only picture of him beside a blurry one. Was thinking maybe cut just him out, but because of all that it'd probably be better with the whole picture.

So with this software are you able to do more than 3 layer stencils? say something like 5? really keen on doing something artistic like woodkid(s) song - Iron. Has some mean cinematography, wouldnt mind stenciling the dog. pic related. notice now that its a bit blurred which wouldnt look to great stenciled but if any of the images are cabaple from google images then that would suit fine :)
