u can use most types of paper, but maybe stay away from printer paper because the ink will drip off the surface. i suggest newsprint (just the paper, not actual newspaper) for one or two time stencils, and if you want something for multiple use they sell whats called stencil blanks which are essentially thin peices of plastic. also word of advice, put a peice of paper between layers of fabric when painting, such as on the inside of a shirt or in a pant leg. have fun!

This is a lengthy process but you can make infinite stencils from a single print:

1) get an old x-ray
2) print the stencil in plain paper
3) with a sharpie, copy the image in paper to the x-ray
4) be very careful and cut the xray.
5) done. an almost unbreakable stencil you can clean with some solvents.

You should rar that shit and upload it.

As far as making the stencils, this is the way I do it:
1. Print off your stencil on regular paper.

2. Trace over your image with a pencil, make fairly dark lines over all the black spots.

3. Flip the paper over and tape it down to whatever you're cutting your stencil out of. I use bristol board, it holds up nice but any cardboard should work within reason. Even cereal boxes work surprisingly well to cut out of.

4. Retrace your image on the back of your stencil paper after it's taped on. Going over the back of the paper will transfer the pencil carbon onto your cardboard or whatever.

5. Peel off your printed stencil and cut away!

Use freezer paper, buy this from any grocery store, it has a wax side and a regular side.
>Cut out a piece the size of a sheet of printer paper
>Insert 8x11 piece of freezer paper into printer
>Make sure it prints out on the regular side, not the wax side
>Use an exacto knife to cut out stencil
>Place stencil on clothing
>Use an iron to stick the paper to your clothing
>Paint, i use an acrylic paint mixed with a fabric medium
>Dry
>Peel off the freezer paper stencil, it should be an easy peel, though the more detailed the stencil you may have to peel off little bits of the paper at a time
>Cover with paper towel and iron over the painted area, this will cause the paint to set
>Done

Also try this a few times with different amounts of paint and fabric medium, if it is to liquidy it could bleed, if it is too thick, it will crackle.

>> No.216043

>>216042
also make sure that when your painting to have something underneath the fabric, so it doesn't bleed into the other side i.e. if it is a shirt, put a piece of cardboard in the shirt so it doesn't bleed into the other side of the shirt.
