Hey /diy/ Any wood workers around that could give me some information on how to fix this table leg.
It seems to have been fixed before due to the presences of some screws. Liquid nails and some more screws?

Thanks

That should be fine. Never put 'too' much faith in liquid nails, though. Just enough faith.

gorilla glue and wrap the whole thing with wire to clamp it.

Drill some holes in the foot and central leg, so you can install some tight fitting dowels, then glue it all together.

I would use some long wooden dowels - maybe 1 cm width.

Clamp/strap the broken bit to the rest of it with some good wood glue on the faces.

Keep the clamps/straps on, let it dry.

Get a 10 mm (or whatever width dowel you are using) wood bit for the drill.

Put a couple of holes about 10 cm deep (I don't know - it's hard to see how big that piece is) going through the broken bit and into the main bit.

Get dowels, lube up with wood glue, knock in to holes.

Leave for a day.

Chop and dress protruding ends.

Not the easiest fix because it's a load bearing piece!

Scrap off as much of the old glue as you can without removing wood. Also back out the old screws (if you can) and consider replacing them with larger and/or longer screws, if possible. Use a standard wood glue or something like gorilla glue when doing the repair. Forget liquid nails. While handy its not meant for furniture repairs. Use a small paint brush to put a thin and even coat of glue on both sides of the piece but don't use too much. Clamp the hell out of the thing until glue starts squeezing out of the joint. You want it as tight as possible without damaging the wood. Drive a few new screws into to finish the job. The screw should be long enough that at least a third of its length ends up on the far side of the split for a good hold. Possible counter sink the screw holes a little before driving the screws, that way you can place wooden plugs or filler in the holes to cover the screw head.

Don't "clamp the hell out of it", just clamp some glue out of it.
