get a long stick. cut notches in the top and bottom of it. String a line, (twine, hemp, hair, etc..) from the top notch to the bottom. Tie a knot in the top so it wont pull through the notch. The line should be short enough that you must bend the stick somewhat into an arch to get the bottom strung like the top. Voila! You have created a bow.
Neat thing is you can unstring it and use it for a walking stick.

Bows and arrows are an extremely mature technology, and if you can't manage to do basic research then you can't claim to be a DIY person with a straight face. The woodworking involved is pretty tricky. But turns out that PVC pipe is easier to deal with and works fine.

I've never made any, but I think this guy's PVC bows look better and more sturdy than the other video that was posted in the thread. Plus, he has multiple styles he's done, and detailed instructions for all of them.
