Remember the good times spent together OP, remember that first thing you two soldered together? Yeah man, that was good wasn't it?

Death is a thing that we shouldn't be scared of, we're all going to experience it in some form or another but instead of being worried about it lets all just remember the good times and use those to get on. He'd have wanted it this way OP, you know it.

...and remember that time when you couldnt find your dildo, so you turn that bad ass dicksmith on and shoved that red hot soldering iron up your rectum?

good times....good times...

'Twas a fine tool indeed. Rest easy friend, for he lived a good life and has earned his place in the workshops of Valhalla.

26 years. This is a good example of why we should buy quality tools instead of made-in-China shit that will be lucky to last 5 years.

Have you actually tried to do that? Some tools just plain aren't available from anywhere but China.

wow nostalgia, back in the day when dick smith was actually good, I would be in that shop for hours at a time looking through my catalog deciding what to build

Dick Smiths only sells the cheap imported shit. (And what you might is a name-brand product is actually a Chinese pirated copy..)

25 years from a cheap chinese soldering station is incredible. It's like 800 years old in Cheap-Chinese-Product years.

The thermocouple wire finally burnt out, cooking up a good portion of the iron's insides, taking out the main-powered heating element. It's a write-off.

So... Hakko FX888 or Weller WES51? :D

yeah i have the fx888, great iron but the tip that comes with it is shit, oxidizes way too fast

other than that great iron, more comfortable to use than the weller too, just look at that pen.. theres nothing to hold onto

>> No.203211

I'm partial to the WES51 because it comes in seafoam. Either works just as well.

How the hell did you manage that? Keep it tinned, it can't oxidize if you don't let oxygen reach it.

It *HAS* to be another one the same. They still sell them and they're every bit as good. Best and most reliable iron I ever owned and incredible value for money.

Mine is the newer beige version, but I've used more expensive irons and I just keep coming back to it.

I shall mourn with you. it had a long life, and an exciting one.

I has this station, it's better than the weller counterpart.
It's not better than the weller digital though. I've used all three tons.

I got that one bro. My 20 year old Weller station died just before I moved to Oz. Been using the Dick Smith for 5 years and it's a good station.

My new iron! (X^_____^)

(To be honest, I only bought the T2000 in 1986 because I couldn't afford a Weller...)
