The original owner didnt use rebar on the backyard patio. Can I lay out a couple sq foots of concrete to feel in the gap?
I know it's just a stop gap but I'm tired of looking and this crack and I don't want to pay $5K to demo, dispose, and lay new slab.

if you wanted to be a lazy fuck you could put down a layer of self leveling cement but it will crack in almost the same spot in almost the same way because you're not actually fixing the problem that made it crack

>> No.2005001

That looks like a settling problem of the base material under the slab...

Thanks for replies. Maybe I'll get a couple quotes and decide from there

You can, if you want it to look like shit after a while, start chipping and crack the same way it is now.
You need to break it up, level and compact your ground underneath, then redo it with re-bar. If it's a large enough area, you may need to do relief cuts after it cures.

look up mudjacking. Once you fix the subsidence causing these cracks then you can half ass a lasting repair

>> No.2005712

sure you can, hose out the cracks and seams and trowel in/on lean cement mix, no aggregate. should get you a few months until needs attention again.

If you realize it's going to be a stopgap anyway, throw some sand on it to level and lay down some rubber flooring.

No it's fucked

Anything you do will be a band aid and will never compare to new proper construction

Demo it yourself. Great workout

second this
then drop some sand in hole, compact it and put slabs 2x3ft on top
cast external concrete slabs always look like shit, with store bought pavers you can make it look nice

He didn't use wire mesh. Your best bet is to break it all up and redo it. But if you really want to patchwork fix it you can use hydraulic cement, it will still look like shit though.
