Hi /DIY/ I have a question Hoping someone can help me.

I'm trying to remove liquid propane from a 30lb tank. I'm wondering if I can use use BBQ line connected with the to the tank upside down and have it collected in a metal basin. Would that work or am I nuts?

I've moved liquid propane from one tank to other using this method, it works but depending on valve bore might take a while
check with scale, even fishing scale will do
Can't remember why we had to do it but I remember it works

Tank to tank yes. To a basin? Not unless it's sealed. That liquid propane wants to be a gas. As the previous anon said, use a scale. I wouldn't use anything else than another propane tank, that would be nuts.

livestream yourself doing this, for science. put a second camera outside your house so we can get some other perspectives on how it works out.

then just place the tank outside, let it cool and fill up your propane bowl or whatever.

but i dont think you really understand the severity of the danger

Can you fill a bbq tank from a forklift tank?

>> No.1945101

>>1945053
If you have the proper hose then yes.

I fill bbq tanks off our big tank at the shop all the time. Fuck paying blue rhino $40 for like $5 worth of propane...

>> No.1945170

>>1944819
You want to use heat to accelerate the transfer, because if you just connect the hose then 40psi in one becomes 20psi in both and you've only moved half the propane.
Put the propane collection vessel on ice, and put the dispensing vessel in hot water.

The propane is not liquid at room temp btw and will evaporate if not contained.

Tech ingredients on jewkikeasstube did a video on it.
