I'm a welder fabricator at an automation company and keep an assortment of tools in a belt pouch. It's gotten rather excessive but I finally found all the tools I need to do pretty much everything. At least everything that wouldn't require hauling the contraption I'm cobbling over to my welding lair. I'm a huge German fanboy. The contents of this pouch is worth about $300 USD

So what do you nerds carry every day?

I dunno anon... I just have them in my pants pocket clipped over the edge right next to my knife. Picking up/carrying heavy shit, rolling around on the ground under vehicles, etc. I've snapped the plastic cased sharpies in half before too... and those metal bodied paint markers have cracked and busted in my pocket. If you're ever carrying one of those and feel a burning sensation on your leg you might want to check and see if it is busted...

I guess I'm just hard on shit that I carry on my body.

I could buy those things for $15 a piece used off e-bay, use it for a month or two and then toss it and activate another one when I broke the fuck out of it. That gun has been in service for ~ 8 years now. It gets drug across the ground while I'm working, grinder sparks all over it, just basically beat to shit on a daily basis. Explain why I would buy a gucci gun to carry? I specifically got a sub compact carry gun that I wouldn't give 2 shits about for this very reason.

Those knives are perfect. Cheap, but function flawlessly. I take a new one apart red loctite all the screws and put them back together. They've scraped more gaskets, cut more twine, stripped more electrical wires, and castrated more calves than you ever have bud.

That wallet is pushing 20 years old. It still performs its task of carrying my credit card, license, and pesticide license as well as cash and I will continue using it until it doesn't perform that task anymore. It gets soaked in sweat on a daily basis and my only complaint with it is when I have to do a lot of running equipment sometimes it will make my ass/lower back sore. But when that happens I'll take it out and look at it and see that I have a few thousand worth of cash in it, so the next time I go home I'll empty it out into the safe and then it is much better...

Those Gerber tools are solid. I like the blunt nose pliers over the needle nose most manufactures give you. I also like the slide out feature of the pliers, so I have super quick one handed access to them without having to play butterfly knife dude... The other features (screwdrivers, file etc.) dont' get used as much, but they've saved my hide a few times and are nice to have when needed.

That carabiner is g2g. I've had some cheap ones that don't last a month, but that one has been going on 15 years or so. I hook it over my pocket and stick the chain and keys down in my pocket. The 3 links of chain are the perfect length to get the keys down towards the bottom of my pocket instead of up on my leg where they would constantly get smashed into my thigh when lifting/carrying heavy stuff.

>> No.1826616

>>1826613
So in other words that is why I carry what I carry. I have carried more stuff and I have carried less stuff in the past, but after years of doing the shit I do this is what I've come down to liking having on me at all times. I don't buy pretty shit with fluff features. I get shit that woks for my tasks.

That knife for example will do anything a $300 dollar pocket knife will do, plus I don't feel bad about sharpening it real quick in a hurry on my belt sander, and when it inevitably gets lost/broken I also don't seethe about it like you cuck tool polishers would. I throw it in the "fuck it" bin and grab another and get back to work.

Are there any tutorials out there for, or is it even worth it trying to mod a leatherman to have a full sized bit holder instead of their weird flat one?

I was looking at either a 300 or 300m and I figure taking out the little extras I would never use like the 3 fuckin flat heads there would be enough room to have a full size bit holder.

Small adjustable no name brand wrench under 20$, planning on getting one of those small pipe wrenches, since they work better in my enviornment. Cheap ass flashlight for 10$ with a magnet on the back, enough to last a couple of months. My 1/E gave me his 7 year old Maglite and it works well enough. I am impressed af by it. Peltor III earmuffs, cotton single use gloves. A rag or two. Whatever wrenches I need for specific work, pliers and a small screwdriver. A pairing knife from time to time. I carry a chinkshit headlamp from time to time if I know I will need it for the day.
I am an engine cadet on a car carrier.
I am planning on adding some type of multi-tool (where the Leatherman shills at?) and a higher quality wrench. Preferrably something with quality pliers and a blade, that can be used for cutting those weird gaskets or fabrics, cutting rubber, insulation, zip ties, etc. Stainless is preferred, since this tool will be spending the majority of the time in my pocket and I sweat like a pig.
I am torn between getting some quality stuff and keeping my loadout cheap, because if I buy quality stuff sooner or later it will be stolen by one of the ratings...

I wanted .40 in a sub compact frame, and a thin profile because I do a lot of crawling around on the ground under equipment in dirty environments and didn't need a huge/heavy/chunky gun strapped to my hip making that even more uncomfortable. It is rugged and reliable enough that I can go without cleaning it for quite a period of time and when I pull it out it still functions flawlessly. It is quick to field strip for when I do clean it, and goes bang when I pull the trigger.
