Basically i want to mod and make adaptors for other brands to fit each other's batteries.

Also upgrade or build my own packs. I'm having a hard time finding battery "shells" in good condition to modify but i did find pic related. The problem is that the 6ah XR battery contains 10 Samsung 21700 cells. They are $7 each.

So, ive been considering mayne making adaptors to say, turn a junk 2ah into a "new" 6ah with nearly the same quality as a new battery. The cheapest i can find that are Dewalt brand from authorized sellers is over $170 a pair. $85.

Has anyone else modified powertool batteries or repaired them?

Not looking to get rich. Mayne just hell some bros out for beer money or upgrade for fun.

There may be other places to get parts i guess. Maybe there are some good 3D printed battery cases or knockoffs from China?

Is anyone able to just take 2 battery packs from 2 different companies and 3D print adapters?

You could buy the whole chink knockoff packs with chink cells for like the same money as your pic.

You gotta get in with the recyclers and scoop some packs, or warranty department at Home Depot (they can’t just trash old packs because muh dangerous lithium). Maybe a pawn shop could find you dead packs on trade ins, but those cunts would probably charge you nearly retail because they’re jews.

Or look for clearance or sale packs. 2pks or 4pks of 1.5Ah packs for some brands were going super cheap as everybody upgraded to better 2000mAh and 3000mAh cells in their basic 5-cell battery packs, but then you would be ripping apart perfectly good battery packs.

Only problem with this, if you want to use it on high demand tools, the 1.5Ah packs and 5.0Ah packs probably have a different BMS. A lot of the newer packs will supply more power to bigger tools than the old ones and I’m guessing the BMS has some sort of limiting in there so you don’t kill the cells, and a 1.5Ah BMS, even with 12.0Ah worth of cells won’t power a full size saw as well as a 5.0 XR pack, it will be less powerful but last a long time.

I've built Makita batteries from chink kits and cells, and also have a direct adapter for some Ryobi gardening tools. If you can get good quality cells on the cheap, it's not a bad idea, but fucking with bad used cells isn't worth it. Chinese cells are cheap and so-so work, but under heavy loads they are noticeably worse performing than the original Makita. These chink cell packs are good for drills, sanders and such, not so good for angle grinders, recip tools, chainsaws, anything high amp.
Aliexpress tends to be the cheapest for these shells, and you can also buy the shell only, without electronics, for a lower price, if you just want an adapter.

This would be great advice if you’re a non-poorfag. I made the impulse decision to buy into the ridgid line two christmases ago when Home Depot had their little “buy this set get this stuff free” sales. Now I’m about $800 deep into the ridgid line, counting my 4 batteries and 6 cordless brushless tools. I wish I would’ve gone with Milwaukee or Dewalt because they have cordless bandsaws. If I could safely adapt one of my ridgid batteries to a dewalt or Milwaukee bandsaw, I’d be a happy camper.

Not really worth it considering we got the corded Milwaukee bandsaw on the work truck (it belongs to the contractor/shop)...but it weighs about 8-9 pounds and I have to find a place to plug in.

I’ve been using that one handed sawzall I was shitposting about all holiday season but I need to find the right blades for it if I want to use it to accurately cut 3/4”-1” EMT conduit...it’s come in handy great for cutting 7/8” unistrut though

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

This is where the shills come in now. There is a wretched new "niche" called "motorless generators" these pieces of shit are building giant battery packs to run 110v shit. It's cool. But so far in my studies i found NO SHIT more than 1 company dry fucking uneducated retards but even worst a FUCKING DISCHARGE LOAD

So basically these filthy cunts rewrap china 18650 or 21700 cells and essentially clone the look of cells 3 times the price and quality. Then they make the standard made up claims and 5 minutes after use the charge pack begins to discharge until dead, then charge until full, and continue. So they BARELY meet american shit standards. Then they lie so hard they can't get caught. Then they cycle cells till they are trash. Then they market an upgrade and it's just.... aweful.

Clicked thumbnails on the video for 2 seconds and I’m assuming it’s dude talking about how only the light worked on the tool because there was no connection to the temp pin, right?

On the DeWalt batteries, it measures resistance of the temp sensor between the + and T pins or some shit, but you can trick it with the proper resistor between those pins. It’s not difficult to trick them, but lots of the tools won’t run simply by hooking up 18V and GND.

you can keep using older tools with new battery packs. isn't that nifty. Don't you agree?
