I came up with a table designa while ago, and I finally cobbled together an example last week. I know it still needs A LOT of work, but I would still like some constructive criticism. Or abuse, if that floats your boat.

Please explain the purpose of it's various parts.

Err... The top is obviously the top. The legs are crossed, with two boards in a V-shape used for stability; maybe as a shelf too. The guy I'm giving this to wanted a shelf/drawer on it, so I cobbled some together on the ends.

tasty bait or a complete retard

No, the bait was bitter. I did not want drawers or shelves. I totally know that those can break super easily.

take all the fidgety gewgaws off and youd have a decent handsome table and not some rigged clap trap, imho

I like it.

what woods?

What is it going to be used for?

Oak top. Wet walnut I had laying around as the legs. I was going to use it as a dinner table, but I did not have enough of the lumber I used for the top. So, now it is more of a miscellaneous desk.

This. Take that cobbled drawer crap off of there and put some decent looking lumber to brace between the legs instead of that shit plywood and it'd actually look decent.

Oh and sweep your floor nigger.

I actually made a similar table last year. The top lifts off the legs. I'm using it as my computer desk.

Top looks great. Plywood looks bad.
The drawer could use a nicer bottom, but it has potential.
Metal legs could be a good alternative, but these look good - I just wonder if they’re strong enough... overall, B+

I weigh about 250 lbs and I can lay on it with no issue.

This one looks excellent. The wood underneath looks so much better than the plywood.

dont do legs like that jesus christ wtf

what kind of table are you trying to build? like a dining table? or a desk?

Why not?

>> No.1763339

So what's the point of the plywood? Just put in a spreader bar halfway down.

>> No.1763344

>>1763339
Lol. I had a pretty good idea of what you meant by "spreader bar", but decided to look it up anyway. Most of the results referred to BDSM.
Anyway, I had chunks of plywood close to the size I needed on hand, and I thought the solid horizontal stiffeners would make a handy shelf.

In furniture lingo, that’s called a stretcher , not a spreader.
