I work around Cambridge Bay. Northern Nunavut.

Hood has a rigid loop that allows you to keep it up and away from your face even in the wind. The real fur on the hood helps keep the blowing snow from freezing to your face and gluing your skin to the coat.

Also they're very long and very, very heavy. Elastics everywhere to stop the wind. They're literally called Resolute jackets.

polyester sweatpants, sweatshirt; excellent warmth, cheap, good wicking properties to keep moisture/sweat controlled

polyester liner-socks for moisture control and maintaining heat pending on shoe, and/or bulkier merino-wool socks also for moisture control, and excellent warmth if wearing roomier shoes. place hand-warmer under toes in roomy boots for long-hour warmth, maintain blood-flow thru feet

regular outer-wear over top of previously mentioned; work pants, flannel, polyester beanie, jacket where needed.

used to wear merino-wool base-layer pants & shirt, sometimes in addition to polyester sweats- highly recommended; very warm due to being sheep wool, warm even if wet due to being an animal hair, doesn't get smelly like plastic-fiber clothes.

I grew up in PA but I'm in North Carolina so it never gets absurdly cold, but if its snow type weather I wear this hoodie thats got like sheep fur inside it, and then a northface millerton. Works amazingly well. Used to deliver pizza in PA wearing that during blizzards, never had a problem.

The rain jacket keeps the warm air in. It'll keep you suprisingly warm. Suprised more people don't do this. Sometimes wear a long sleeve. Its nice to have layers, so if you sweat, you can take off the hoodie and just use the longsleeve and raincoat.

If you are wearing a big buffy coat that weighs like a million pounds you are doing it wrong unless you are trying to survive antarctica.

The management was bullshitting us for months before saying “we spent all this money on Under Armour for you guys!” and I knew they weren’t going to spend money on brand name. They ended up getting real UA brand name nice polos for one of the departments (and they look nice, not safety yellow) but our shit is some random ass company because we’re in the warehouse and yard sometimes.

I do like the zip up sweater we got, it’s like Gore Tex, but that safety yellow gets dirty in 15min so I can’t even wear it more than two mornings going into work. I wish I got the option for a second one of those instead of this ultra heavy winter coat I will never use unless I transfer to a location in Minnesota. The PET material isn’t too bad, it’s better than our prior safety polos that were made from the same shit they make heavy hockey jerseys from, but the material isn’t very stretchy so it’s hard getting in the sweater and long sleeves sometimes.

German or Austrian. These guys come from apprentice and guild backgrounds and are very well trained and equipped. They are respected and well paid. They can afford good tools and they value good tools, especially hand tools.

>you will never be a European tradesman
>you will always have to deal with American union bullshit, or blatant nepotism/underhanded work practices at independent companies
>you will still be working at 70
>you will literally draw your final breath with screwdriver in your hand

Forever stuck in this fucking shit country. Why go on?

Don't come at me with some bullshit dumb luck story about how you're making six figures pulling romex for your Daddy's electrical company in bumfuck, minnesota, or how Uncle Tim the plant manager hired you to change pump motors. Fuck you.

Marry a fat ugly desperate Eurowench. Bcum citizen of EU.

I don't need whore my hawt self because I make six figures pulling Romex for muh Daddy's electrical company in Bumfuck, Minnesota where Uncle Tim the plant manager hired me to change pump motors. Because I'm beautiful I moved to management and rule over my former peers. I fucking LOVE the career advancement and recommend the trades to everyone.

I really hope you resolve your rage issues and become better adjusted to your reality. I hear oxycodone and Jack Daniels help.

Hugs!
Proud 'Murrican Tradesman
