1711497 No.1711497 [Reply] [Original]

Is this a better idea for a tiny home, a tiny home starter kit. Just buy an old moving van and just retrofit it out. Average cost of gas guzzling moving van on craigslist is $4500. Since you won't be moving it much. Just put it on non-op to drop the commercial insurance costs of owning. I did own one a few years back. It was fucking owning a massive truck like this. Plus, everybody wants to borrow it, so you can rent it out. Don't be a tiny home fool and start from sratch, go the Lambright way!

A better solution is a flatbed with a shipping container on it.

That way if you want to settle down you merely have to dig a 500ft deep hole to drop the container into instead of the inconvenience of buying a house

I mean, you're not wrong, but the perennial problems of:

1) Insulation
2) Electricity
3) Bathroom

Still exist. Winter climate? Tough titties. Don't want to run a gas genenrator 24/7? Either have to live in a campground or some sort of electrical drop that takes normal plug. Bathroom and shower? Campground again, or you're installing a water tank, heater and pump. Or just having a outhouse on your lot.

Why? It's so heavy, terrible gas mileage and your death trap. You'll attract violence with it. Be undercover and put sandbags on the inside of this moving truck where you sleep if your that paranoid.

I think tiny home people are the absolute biggest brainless in the world. they are People who can't accept they are economically impoverished and have to live in a trailer, so to save face 'so they think' they beg borrow and steal to make 'one of trailers' but in full denial of the position in life's game of who can collect money, they have somehow either missed that boat or never tried to even catch it or don't know what a boat is. Either way, tiny homes are a waste. Just buy a trailer used on craigslist and save money while you get your life back, that's what I did.

A lot of positive things are happening in my life and I can't share them with you because the time is not right. Just know I have a long term battle plan and I'm about 20% in to it.

Yes, this is Wayne. If that truck is for sale in December, I'll probably buy it. It's perfect, because it's duriable and looks like a real moving van, because it is. It's the perfect spy van or undercover office. My friend and I got board and decided to make an office on wheels 15 years ago. Now it's my turn to make mine. What is an office on wheels? It's actually your man cave on wheels, but not a fucking motorhome. I'm putting a party deck on the roof. This is going to massive, large and heavy. 7 mpg. Roll up the the beach. Kick it in your office chair and dream of the next big thing!

For starters, I'd have an alarm that would go off if excessive temperatures are detected, it'd wake me up if it happens overnight, and if I'm awake, it'd warn me that something was wrong if I didn't already notice things like smoke, people shouting at my vehicle, etc. For protecting the sides and top, I'd focus on using fire resistant insulation, the armor and side panels will already distribute the heat, all I'd need to do is insulate interior objects. As for the undercarriage, I'd use electronically controlled auto-extinguishers that would release carbon dioxide upon detection of excess heat underneath the vehicle.

I would use a shipping container because van boxes are quite delicate. I already have four containers, two welded together as a shop, and they are easy to work with and storm and vermin proof (nice for my lathe and mill etc). I'd copy military and industrial residential container interiors for living space because they do it best, end of story. All the usual problems noobs encounter are solved by copying success. The Sea Box site has a wide variety of ideas to copy. It's easy to add personnel doors and windows as desired. I don't want windows so I put one man door on the end opposite the end doors.

If I needed the container moved I'd call a mover with a Landoll travelling axle trailer (if it's a 40' or longer) or a wrecker service with a medium or heavy duty rollback (if it's a 20') because fuck paying for a truck that mostly sits. I've already had a shop bus and their layout is utterly restrictive.

All you need to know is on the internet. This guy did it well but not being a hardcore DIYer paid more than I would for the same result. http://www.tincancabin.com/

Big if true!

Unironically i bought a dumo truck specifically for this reason. Occasionally i need to haul shit. Its got a long ass flat bed with both wooden and grain hauler sides. Figured i would just build a meme camper in a 20 foot container and use 2 or 3 electric winches to trow it up there.

It'll be handy as fuck or a complete disaster.

I'll make a vid or series on youtube come spring

Naw. I'm just saddened watching this pathetic waste of O2 trying to shill every crackpot idea on the planet and stinking up this board. What I care about are the mods not moderating and allowing this garbage, as they usually do. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them is a relative or gay lover of this quack. Who knows maybe he has a pic of the mods getting it on with a real grill and he's holding it over them so he can use this place to make himself feel better.

I'm sick of the trolling, the shilling and the sheer lack of competence, especially from the mods about this. Diy used to be awesome, educational and fun until this dufus showed up. I wish the mods and Wayne would go fuck themselves. If I ran so many shill threads I'd be banned. Not this fuckwad cause he's like a brony to them.

The part I don't understand yet is how Wayne is still alive? Surely a burger would of attempted assination by now.

only the corners of a shipping container are strong because you can stack them. the walls are simple sheet metal and kinda sheit.

If you are gonna go truck living my biggest suggestion would be Buy Diesel

van dwelling has no perspective, you will always deal with limited size space,

the road eventually leads to the final red pill and that is to buy a (sail?) boat.

Go to any country. etc
