tires are designed to be tough a fuck and will literally take a beating.

you can nail through them, but you have to be a man about it. hit it like I hit your mom last night.

Not unless it was made of plastic. Get an all purpose bit or just use screws.

The wire in the tires might jam it up.

just drop a pile of roofing nails near it, come back the next day and they will have plenty of nails through it

why not construction screws like spax or grip-rite
I think with those style threads/etc and an impact driver you could get those screws in faster than the rubber melts

Screws and bolts will get kind of spendy
The old galvanised umbrella head roofing nails would be best as they won't pull through and fairly cheap

I need to tell you, OP, that tires are a fucking polluting disaster to have on your farm. They release several types of heavy metals as they weather. They are pretty terrible in just about every regard you can think of when it comes to pollution. If you graze animals, grow crops, or have your own well, or want to do those things in the future, I suggest using something else and taking the tire rubber to the dump.

Also see farming related stuff here: >>>/out/1630498

I've used a drill on a tire before. It can get stuck very easily. The rubber can heat up and stick it fast to the point the bit can't do anything. The rubber wants to twist around the bit and clamp down on it. The best drill bits to use are brad points for softwood, spade bit that has points on the sides, and the creme de la creme the forstner bits. The wires in the tire can cause problems with those bits. I highly recommend using a larger drill bit for making bolt holes and not something small for making nail holes. Smaller bits tend to fuck up pretty drastically, though that does depend on the tire it seems. Some are worse than others. Tires are a majorly shitty thing to use for anything other than being tires.

It should be noted that when a tire is inflated, drilling into it is far easier for some reason, probably because it is being stretched. Though I do not recommend EVER doing that since they can explode and hurt you really well.

do some DIY testing with the pneumatic nailer already suggested and coated 12D nails, should penetrate easily..

For such a violent outgassing, that tire sure looks like it's still inflated after being punctured.
