I want to build a pool. Is doing it myself feasible? What kind of material is reasonable in price but also not gonna require expensive maintenance?

have you ever maintained a pool before?

if not, do not consider making one yourself. when you fuck it up it will cost you tens of thousands to fix

just dig a trench and line it with a tarp
when you're sick of it, fill it back in

Indoor or outdoors? Above or below ground?

What i'd do is build it on a slope to make draining it easier, maybe use a thick layer of clay if you want a natural pool for frogs and fish

Why would maintaining one make me more ready to build one?

>>1631767
Outdoors, below ground. Not sure what kind of pool to build. People say gunite is the best. Regular concrete seems the easiest to pull off.

Gunite is best
The surrounding ground make up is extremely important. If you're like mine and all suger sand in a extremely wet/rain environment expect constant sag on the liner

that thing looks a pain in the ass to maintain
that's a lot of water. i'd panic. what if something happens.

First you need to dig a hole, 500 ft deep. The rest is pretty simple

Came here to mention that if anon can dig a whole 500ft deep, I have faith that OP can dig a small backyard pool and mix some quickrete.

I saw them do it on king of the hill, looks doable. Dig a big hole, lay down a rebar mesh, add cement.
