open it up, pull every connector two or three times and see if that fixes it. maybe invest a few dollars in contact cleaner. look at the capacitors and replace ones that have bulged.

other than that, you need a working scope to diagnose a bad one, and a schematic would be nice as well, and back then they published them along with the calibration procedure.

Kek. Those springs are nothing to fuck with. Lost power from a hurricane and had to open the big 2-car door by hand to get my car out. All of a sudden the spring tension lets go and the garage door drops. I tried to tighten the springs back up and get confused because there’s 3 springs and it looks like two of them are spinning the correct way to lift the door, but the 3rd spring is going backwards, like unwinding. That 3rd spring explodes as I’m trying to load them up with tension and I give up and get a garage door tech over.

Well yeah, that's how it works. Did you think all of the springs were torsioned in one direction? If that was the case you'd either have them pinning the damn thing to the ground, or it would fly up like a rocket. There are offsetting springs, one larger than the other, so that the weight of the door is counterbalanced as exactly as possible allowing it to go up and down with "zero" (minimal) force.

They had 3 mismatched springs on there before and when garage door guy came, he replaced it with two matching springs. Even when the power first went out before the springs let go, there was nowhere near enough force helping the door up.

I bought it all. I just did my taxes the other day and I was able to write it all off, which got me 8 grand back. I just did an insurance policy on it all the other day, it was all working fine and now it has 4 serious issues all of which probably total a grand, I could put another grand into it but I dont know if its ever going to stop.
