I just can't do it anymore.

I'm a shit handyman and i give up. U can't find one in my area and i cant do the recommended legwork and track down a good one not local. The fuck do i do? Just start online and then hire one and hope i don't get fucked?

Hire people specialized in what they do. Don't hire a handyman. Hire a plumber, landscaper, gutter cleaner, etc

I cant find any of those either. I live in bumblefuck nowhere. There are some guys that do it on the side but i don't believe any are even insured and if they are it doesnt show. Where is the business. 1 guy in a beater truck may be good. But if he is that good he likely grows the business or prices himself into new shit.

I think i got my brother in law on board. He works seasonal and has most of the summer off. It is an hour drive to Lowe's and the local hardware store is only open while I am at work. So rather than drive 2 minutes for a fitting it's an hour. Just burned out on all of the bullshit and idk wtf i am doing. It will be nice to have someone not in a perpetual rage to tackle some things. I guess if we fuck it up we can get a specialist in to laugh and maybe do business in the future if they are worth a shit.

Yeah... I'm pretty sure we just crushed my sewer line hauling rock in for my driveway a few weeks ago. I took pics and asked for a ballpark estimate from a rando friend of a friend. Said 5 figures easy. My friend today scored a mini excavator. I've made a lot of bad decisions in my life but saying I'm grateful to be playing in my own shit is a fucked up thing to admit.

I don't have 10k just laying around but i do have unlimited clean well water and a desire to build a second bathroom. I guess now's the chance to rough it in at least and fish all new pex throughout.

I'm glad i got some help and access to equipment. I had no idea how the fuck I was going to handle this.

Silver lining i guess. Sewer work is not fun but if i made 10k to do the neighbors you couldnt get me in there fast enough.

5 of those jobs a year would replace my income.

Obviously not that black and white but still.

If you find a good one (good luck - it took me a while), ask him who he recommends. Don't ask on the first date.
Look for a plumber who refuses to use plastic parts, or doesn't mark up hardware just charges by the hour.
