Because faggot OPs always want to make swords?
Faggots who like swords are the epitome of redditors. You may as well have a 'fedora and sword' thread here, there's so many of you faggots.

This is a prime example of why the Crusades against Livonia ended up with Denmark Stealing Latvia's true flag and the Finns becoming autistic due to the Hyperwar with Korea that followed the death of the Latgalian King of the Cēsis tribe in 1279.

Figure I should ask here....

Trying to recorner this anvil. I bought hard facing rods. 1/8inch running around 160 Amos. I cant get them to penetrate the anvil though. The weld pool is all over the place and needs just roll off to the ground.

I'm not pre heating the anvil on the advice of a blacksmith. Is that wrong?

>> No.1595533

>>1595522
160 is way to hot for a typical 1/8 rod. Maybe not for a hardfacing rod but try 115. Also position it so that shit is flat. Looks like youve got a bevel there. Not flat. Preheating is probably not necessary but give it a shot if you are still failing.

Package says 140 to 160. I've got it propped up so that I'm welding flat.

you really dont want to use hardfacing, it will just crack and split. not to mention a good anvil isnt necessarily hard, they have noticable recoil. 7018 or 8018 works though. dont preheat and try not to let it cool slow. weld it cold and as fast as you can, within reason. 1/8 @ 100 amp and go from there
