Hell yes. Makeshift lights are the best!

Pic related ended up being great for working on the car. Dying 4.0Ah lead acid battery plus a power supply from an old cable box with these $15 LEDs. It’s perfect for working under the car because you can leave it on the ground and turn the lights so they illuminate a big area well.

I dont have some sort of ethereal quota or need to "build something" to justify anything or prove myself to anyone.

Sure, some people buy a bunch of tools to brag about buying a bunch of tools. Then they get made fun of for never using those tools. Then they quickly slap together some garbage to justify their purchases and feel like they have accomplished at least SOMETHING. Got to start somewhere right?

"At least I built something, what did you do today?" the man smugly says, as he puts his trash over in a pile of other KipKay tier projects made in a single rainy afternoon.

Maybe you can DIY some nice halloween masks right after you finish your elbow macaroni art and popsicle stick houses.

The confusing thing to me is all the kids who grew up without a dad and used that as an excuse for why they don’t know how to use a hammer. I had the opposite experience, I had to become the man of the house after my dad got booted when I was 12. I think I replaced my first toilet at 13, painted my entire house exterior shortly after that.

I mean I helped dad drill holes one time into the wall for some bolts to fix wooden ceiling joists, but apart from that no. And dad only pulled out power tools for when he needed to fix stuff around the house and when that happened he was always grumbling and furious at the world so me getting in there and fucking around with his tools would have been a terrible idea.

>>1593674
If we bought a tool outright it would have to be out of our own pockets, the uni covered only materials. Nobody was willing to dish out the money for a new circular/table saw. Lesson learned, however, I've seen how badly what I did can end. I was absolutely mortified by the things the cutting disk did when it went through the wood, I legitimately thought I would end up in the hospital but it was either that or having to tell the uni "yeah I bought all this shit on your dime and nothing got done", and my priorities at the time were a little fucked.
