Have a scooter, 50cc 2stroke. Uses quite a bit of oil, smokes on startup and sometimes I've got to spray some easy-start in the carb to get it running if it's sat overnight. The starting issue may be dirty jets as I ran it out of petrol a while ago, cleaned the jets but might not have done a proper job. What do ya reckon's wrong with it?

>> No.1567371

probably could use a new set of rings and maybe chuck the jug on a hone real quick to get the crosshatch back into it

2 strokes smoke, your carb is likely dirty or you have a small air leak somewhere.
2 strokes hate air leaks.

>>1567374

yea lets just ignore half his post.

uses quite a bit of oil + hard cold starting

low compression = rings
burning oil = rings

p.s. all motors hate air leaks shit smear

>> No.1567381

>>1567374

not to mention you should never run a 2 stroke dry as this causes an excessively lean condition, which will also cook your rings

its rings OP

I only build, port and tune custom 2 stroke motors all day, I've only dealt with this shit literally fucking 500 times before, just ignore me.

after reading your posts im surprised you have the mental capacity to use the alphabet, let alone take apart weed whackers and "tune" them

i suggest listening when outside your realm of knowledge, not speaking

My brother worked on fracking rigs for years, that shit isnt hard lol.
Also that's not relevant to 2 strokes at all.

heres the c-frame and blade assembly from a d6k. lack of grease caused the c-frame bushings to sieze, break off the keepers, and work their way out.

removed, built up with weld, line bored. press in new bushings. reassemble using new pins as well.

10 years experience working with two strokes and you dont consider the rings/jug to be a likely cause of his problems?

how does a dirty carb cause him to burn oil? 2 strokes are literally the simplest motors to troubleshoot. he cleaned his carb already, sure its possible he fucked it up but unlikely.

he ran it dry on fuel, i cant think of something harder on the rings/jug. 10 years and youve never heard this?

youre a complete joke and have no business offering advice other than how to get it on with your bosses dog

>10 years experience working with two strokes and you dont consider the rings/jug to be a likely cause of his problems?
an air leak will cause a difficult start, this is 2 stroke 101
dirty carb has nothing to do with oil, most scooters have oil pumps separate from the carb so you can run straight gas without premixing.
running out of gas doesn't hurt a scooter, the oil pump will continue to add oil to the system, and running out of gas on a premix bike wont hurt it either, you run out of gas you run out of oil at the same time, but residual oil in the engine keeps it lubed for the 10 seconds you start to bog down before it dies.
Running out of gas doesn't hurt a cylinder, that's absurd.

>> No.1567426

>>1567420

again, this is common knowledge and if you had even the slightest idea if how a carb worked you would agree.

as the fuel level drops, the mixture leans out. less fuel, same amount of air = leaner. youve honeslty never ran a bike dry? theyll go apeshit sometimes they wont even shut off unless you dump the clutch to stall it out. your posts contradict your alledged experience. you're probably some 19 year old who just finished welding school

>again, this is common knowledge and if you had even the slightest idea if how a carb worked you would agree.
Agree with what?
I've run a bike dry plenty of times, it doesn't harm the engine.
Scooters don't have a manual clutch, it's centrifugal with a CVT system.
You really have no idea what you're talking about.
Reply to me again so I can debunk another post and make you look even more retarded.

2 stroke is a 2 stroke, 50cc or 250cc, the same shit applies to both.
Reply again if you're not a little fucking bitch lmao xaxaxa
