Man fuck this shit and the jew who invented it.

Went up top for a little bit to drop an ethernet cable. Came down feeling like I had a whole body rash, had inhaled a bowl of sand, swallowed a cup of influenza and rubbed my eyes with acid. I stripped down as soon as I got off the ladder and had a shower and I still feel like shit.

Oh and I sure loved playing the floor is lava again.

I spent 4 months fire rating condo attics.i started in spring because I knew it would get hot as fuck ad the weather got warmer. Even when it was 20 degrees outside it was over 40 in the attic. So I had to army crawl through this shut because the roof was only 3' from the joists to the peak. In some spots the roof was touching my head when I was at the edge of the attic. Itchy as fuck all the time and my mask filters were clogged to all shit at the end of each day. It was like a mild form of torture but made serious money.

Stuff is literally billions of hair wisp thin bits of steel and furnace slag woven together to make insulation.

Fiberglass blanket insulation is pain. Hands get itchy instantly.
Getting into attic with blown shit, without chemical hazard suit is absolute madman. At least it is not an asbestos insulation...

>> No.1557588

Fiberglass Insulation is dog shit whether it is in your attic or your walls. Cheap fucking garbage that doesn't work but no one gives a shit because the dry wall covers it up or it's in your attic. Out of sight and out of mind.

I spray foamed my whole house. 3.5 inches of closed cell foam in all the walls. 3 inches on the outside foundation below grade (did 3.5 on the inside basement walls). Sprayed 3 inches on the floor of the attic and then had them fill the rest in with open cell foam for additional R value and sound proofing. All my bathroom walls and bedroom walls got open cell foam for sound proofing (even the interior walls). Fucking bomb could go off in the next room and you wouldn't hear it. No bugs, no dust, no noise.

My 3200 sq/ft home can be heated with a candle and cooled with an ice cube. My gas and electric bills are non existent. The house is like a sanctuary of comfort and quiet.

The mechanical of a home is the number 1 priority. You can always change out the carpet or reno a kitchen but fuck tearing down all the drywall to replace the insulation.

It's amazing how fucked up people are when it comes to building a solid house. They don't bat an eye when spending 50k on kitchen but tell them it will be 30 k to insulate their house and they look at you like you raped their daughter, wife, mother and father.

It... looks better now to say the least. I'm still not done and I had cut some corners to avoid major framing overhaul on account of a botched remodel by another owner. there is a hole in front of the door where someone stepped out of the shower and water leaked through down to the subfloor and created a hole which I could kick through when I took the tile up.

>It used to literally have shag carpet in the bathroom I wish I had a pic before I started. There was also a washing machine sized hamper going to the ceiling right in front of the door. I dont even know what the old owner was thinking. I have had to un-bubba this entire house, i've got virtually no progress in 6 months because literally nothing is done properly down to the framing, every single window has been moved and every new window was incorrectly framed, same goes for the door. On top of that nothing is nominal so I either have to cover things with trim or rip my own boards.

All of the exterior facing drywall had to be replaced because there was an unvented gas heater heating the house and it caused condensation and water damage, the drywall looked like someone took a hose to it, and they covered it with paneling which was also warped and separating from the drywall, which made it pull away from the studs. The ceiling is cut weird and they didn't do the top corners correctly so I'm going to rescrew it all and retape it, then nail up some 1x3 for crown molding to sure it up and give it a simple rustic look, it's an old farm house on the outskirts of town so it matches well.
