I’m not the guy with the 1953, but I admire his good fortune in having it. Here’s more:
The Ford NAA tractor is a tractor that was introduced by Ford as an entirely new model in 1953 and dubbed the Golden Jubilee. The NAA designation was a reference to the first three digits of the serial number style used starting with this tractor. It was designed as a replacement for the Ford N-Series tractors.

Its a briggs and stratton, not a Tecumseh. You need little to no priming. Glad mowers no long have Techumseh motors.

>> No.1549240

>>1549149
That would be because Tecumseh went under. Meanwhile, I have to clean the carb on my B&S every spring, even after draining the gas and running it dry in fall, because their carbs are shit. Does anyone make non-shit motors you can drop into things like lawn mowers? Something around 5 HP would do me.

Predator from Harbor Freight
They're so much like a Honda that Honda sued them.

I have a 1965 Briggs 3.5 on a tiller that still runs since new...why? Because I change oil, never replaced a spark plug . I treat the fuel and oil the cylinder in winter. In the old days we just ran em dry. If you cant make / keep a small engine running you're an idiot my friend

this thread is hilarious

bunch of grown men shit talking each others lawn mower preferences

i seem to be doing a ton of small engine work lately

got a 1970s acklands welder fixed up for a guy. updraft carb and auto high idle/governorn was all fucked up. rebuilt/cleaned carb, cleaned up/setup governor, set the timing, new plug leads, rigger nigged up some better linkages. the motors all clapped out to fuck so it runs like a wet fart but she welds like a ranger

that and a 1976 alpine 640 with a tillotson had me scratching my head for a week

Is it operator error, like the deadman control, no wire on the spark plug, or are you giving up?

Nah, you can buy 1953 8N's. Last production was 1952 for the 1953 model year. (Psst... if you go buy a 2019 car today, guess when it rolled off the assembly line?)

Second that. I have absolutely abused my mower and it still runs great. Left it outside in the Northeast Ohio rain and snow for six months and it started right up on the first or second pull. I should add that it still had old gas from the prior year. I have changed the oil once in this thing in the 8 years I've owned it, and I'm going to change to my third blade soon. Craftsman branded 23" self-propelled mulching mower with a Honda engine.

Check is the spark plug is properly connected. Maybe it got loose during the transport or on purpose by the manufacturer for safety reasons.
