Form follows function. Those are bad designs functionally inferior to the ones you could find in the bargain bin at Walmart. Figure out what a tool is supposed to do, use that to select materials and ergonomics, and THEN figure out what it should look like. If you want to continue this discussion, I assign you the task of identifying three functional deficiencies of that hammer. There are more than that, and I'll even give a pic of a proper hammer, so it should be easy.

1.) the handle is out of material which is not good to be a handle. Normal hammerhandles are made out of wood, because when you smash something, it’s gonna be hard for you hand

3.) the hammer don’t transport the feeling that it’s ok to smash a nail into something

You're misunderstanding the phrase. "Form follows function" means that the shape and aesthetics of a thing naturally derive from its function. Figure out what something is supposed to do, and the overall aesthetics will present themselves to you as the functional whole is worked out. Superficial detailing can be a part of aesthetic considerations, but it comes after this. And attempting to force aesthetics onto functional parts often results in poor functionality. For example, Louis Sullivan coined that phrase, and he generally had a decent handle on things, but later Modernist architects got too focused on the idea of "machines for living", forgetting that humans have a nature with various social and emotional components that are influenced by the built environment. This resulted in building and community designs that failed on all accounts, from keeping out water to durability to building functional communities to actually being used as intended over the long term.

These tool designs show a lack of understanding of how tools work. What the handle of a screwdriver is for. How a hammer works (look up center of percussion). What the claw is for. Why the face is shaped the way it is.

If the hammer is actually used, it will get dented, scratched, and dirty. Such things will stick out clearly on a medical-grade steel finish, so the lifetime aesthetic of these tools will be a "beautiful product" that is smudged and scratched, making it looks shabby. Actual hammers made to be used and also made with aesthetic consideration age like antiques, acquiring a worn patina can improve over generations.

Perfectly round handles on a screwdriver are annoying because 1. they'll slip in your hand 2. they'll roll when laid down. (That is why it's nicer to use flat carpenter pencils instead of round pencils.)

This is an idea that has been attempted many times throughout the ages but has not really been done well since the 19th century which were largely tools which followed the well established working designs, but made with the highest quality of materials and took fit an finish to the extreme so the gentleman could work on his fretwork and marquetry without the shame of being seen using pedestrian tools.

Veritas is the most recent to attempt this and made one of the more ugly block planes in existence. They have tried to keep the function first, but most of their tools lack the comfort for long hours of use, and they look like they should come with a Veritas branded Members Only jacket.

OP would do well to research the many past attempts at aesthetic first tools and the only two successes at this that I can think of, the 19th century gentlemens tools and Veritas, Some research into tool design would probably be wise as well.

Those are the saddest looking excuses for tools I have ever had the misfortune to look upon. Looks like vapourwave has encroached onto the hardware market.

Uh huh. Huge improvements here. The last Black and Decker one is from about the late 80s-early 90s. The one before that is from about the early 80s. Then you have a late 70s model. The worn-looking golden one is from the late 60s. The first one is from the 50s or early 60s. I bet you fucking money if you pulled the cases of the ones from the 80s and 90's the only major difference would be the DeWalt stuff is made in China and not as well at that. Chucks aside, they are the same tools going back a very long way (40 years). They have just engineered them to be cheaper and cheaper to manufacture. Shave some plastic from here, use a lower quality metal there, have some 9 year old chained to a workbench drive the screws holding it together rather than a union employee with a pension. I don't have to tell you that hasn't done the durability and longevity of the tool any favors. Things used to be overbuilt. Not they are designed to be as cheap as possible while still just barely getting the job done.

The reason for it is simple too. America doesn't build shit anymore. We import it. You think the demand for tools as gone UP in the USA in the last 40 years? Far from it. We manufactured so much there was room for a dozen major tool companies in the US that just manufactured drills! That is before you even get into foreign companies. Now 6 in the whole work make 90% of the tools, mostly in China. Sure, your drill might spin a little faster, be a little lighter, have a really cool shell inspired by the Transformer Bumblebee, but it won't last. It will be in a landfill in 20 years. If your fucking Dad managed to get the job done with these primitive pieces of shit, so you say, what the fuck does that say about you? A poor craftsman blames his tools.

That's because real steel-handled hammers like Estwings use a very thin profile for the neck and a lower-density (in this case shock-absorbing too) material for the grip. The center of mass is still close to the head as in a wood-handled hammer, meaning that the center of percussion is very close to the face itself, so very little shock is transferred to the hand. In OP's hammer, the center of mass is in the grip, meaning that any impact on the head will transfer a lot of the impact to the hand.

Well maybe if there was a ~1mm shim of rubber between the head and handle, otherwise that shock is getting transferred for sure. I'm also rather sceptical as to whether two screws are sufficient to keep the head in place, they'd better have abundant shear strength.

That looks good but too fragile and slippery. Put more metal into the shaft of the screw driver and some kind of pattern for grip.
