a sansula is a kalimba mounted on a skin to make it resonnant. anyone knows if i could simply put a bit of clear tape over the hole to prevent it from spreading and vibrating all over the place ? i'm worried it will muffle the sound

Your best bet might be to glue a small square of fabric to the back of it with PVA, though depending on how much tension the skin is under it may continue to tear.
