Dunno whether this belongs in /diy/ or /adv/.... but its definitely /auto/

Right brake light was out, replaced the bulb, now the blinker works intermittently. When i have my foot on the brakes, the blinker won't work, but as soon as a let go of the brakes, blinker works just fine.

Sometimes it does this, other times it works normal. Wtf

I'd say water got in and corroded contacts in your lamp. Replace the lamp since it's not waterproof anymore. Had literally the same issue with mine.

It literally plugs in like a fuse. It'll probably be in the fuse box in the engine compartment, where the big boy fuses are like the starter fuse.

If it’s this >>1475886 you can also try to get in there and swap it out with a known good relay, hit the switch and see if it works. If it’s blown, go buy a new one. Super easy to replace.

>>1475880
One of my reverse lights doesn’t work. Replaced the bulb and it still doesn’t work. Investigated further and the plug is all fuckin corroded. Tried to clean it up a little and still makes shirty contact so I gave up.

What’s the best way to clean that crap off? Maybe I will order a new connector or go to the junkyard and cut one off another car.

As a native american, I feel you need to go back to the tree in your jeep and do a what we call a repentance dance for it to work again.

It involves get drunk and backing the other side into the tree.

I need a wiring diagram or I'm completely in the dark here.
It does sound like the flasher like >>1475886
said, which is one of the countless problems with Chrysler products, but the fact that it's when your brake lights are on is odd.
need wiring diagram, I can tell you where to look if you can find one for your specific car.

If it works OK normally until you put your foot on the brake then you've got a dodgy earth. Find your earth points from the bulb(s) and clean them up.

Op here, so when you guys say check the ground.... the bulbs plug into a screw in socket like pictured, then there is a wire that connects to the entire fixture. Where should i be looking?

start at the bulb with a multi meter and start tracing it back. You will find a cracked, split wire eventually. If by chance Johnny Dumbass installed a pigtail for a trailer...BINGO east fix. Only 3 wires to your tail lights not including ground

>> No.1478745

what i do in a situation like this is just run new wires

fuck tracing wiring waste of time

run new wires right from your switch back, ground each light seperately to the frame to stop backfeeding.

but in this case OP you put a single filament bulb in place of a dual filament bulb

go back and buy the proper bulb guy

Man, look everywhere. Look at contact points. Any residue, corrosion, burn marks. Take a multimeter with continuity mode, attach one probe to grounded metal thing in you car and other one to ground contact in fixture. Now fiddle with the cable. If beeper stops, then the cable is broken somewhere.

This is the classic indication that your ground (chassis) connection is bad. sometimes the bad connection is in the plug/socket to the light cluster. Find the connections, take the time to clean them up properly - and 98% chance that everything works.
