so while trying to get a hose off my heater core, I stupidly bent/squashed the pipe where the hose is attached via a clamp. I tried to "re-round" the pipe but I couldn't get it completely round. I imagine the hose is not making full contact with the pipe because I developed a small leak of coolant in there

Is there a way I can make that tube round again ? I can't slide the hose more inwards since there's a ring on the pipe that prevents me from doing so. I know I could get another clamp in there and hope for the best, but I want to see if I can fix the tubing first

thanks

find a socket that just fits in the tube and hammer it in a little ?

Yeah, but what if he ends up breaking the heater core tube? Nobody likes replacing heater cores.

>>1466274
I dunno, maybe squirt a small blob RTV gasket maker on the low point, then wrap the pipe in silicone tape? Maybe it'll fill in the dent. Also, maybe a worm clamp would work better if it has a spring clamp. Dude, why didn't you just cut the hose off if it was stuck on there so badly? When they're that badly stuck and deformed, you should replace them anyway.

>> No.1466347

yea you fucked up

use 2 hoseclamps instead of whatever lump of shit youre calling a clamp on there

when doing hose of basically any sort, if theres a clamp involved, two of them are almost certainly better than one

ever since i started using two - no more leaks or split at the clamp

ex:
shop air @ 135 psi
oxy/ace lines
fuel lines

>> No.1466348

forgot to add, always spin the hose first to break it free from the mating surface, makes like a lot easier. they kinda get stuck if ya know what i mean

Thats why mine is bolted to the fucking dash.

Is it really that difficult to just mount the mutherfucker where you can get to it?

Just because you keep rotating trips doesn't mean you cant be blocked, fuck off bepcunt.

>>1466274
Whats the pipe made of? If it's steel or copper a socket and a hammer should do it, if its aluminium you might be fucked.

Actually, now I have brained on it for a minute, you might be able to force it back into round internally with a pair of pliers. Stick them into the end so the jaws are on the narrowest part, then force the arms open. If its a heater return pipe it might be to narrow for bull noses, maybe some wire cutters or something narrow enough.

Was going to post this. Do it with a pair of needle nose pliers.

Ive done this same shit before. What i ended up doing was using a tiny pipe cutter to cut it off behind the bent up shit and then was able to fit a flaring tool in there. Depends on how much space you have. It's not a super high pressure system so it doesnt need to be perfect

If you use 2 thin hose clamps, they'll bend to the shape of the pipe.
You can use zip ties. There's only like 15psi in the system max.

ended up using 2 hose clamps, going to monitor what happens

tried this, didn't work, the pipe is fairly thick and strog

It's going to leak, clips seal best around a round surface, but you do you.

Its most likely aluminum. I have no idea why they'd make it steel as the core itself will be aluminum.

Cut it and maybe extend it with another smaller piece by soldering it.

If it leaks, get one of these.

well fuck me, that's exactly what I was looking for!
I'll keep an eye on the fix but I'll buy one just in case anyway.
