I don't want to spend $1k on a decent bed. Should I get a 12" memory foam bed in a box and a 3" latex topper and wrap them in a padded mattress protector instead?

I always have wondered how pic related would do with a mattress pad. (4" thickness)
I like a firm bed anyway.
Mattresses seems to be the worst investment.

>> No.1415828

>>1415825
In fact, pic related can easily be wiped down if some bitch squirts everywhere.
Mattress pads are easily replaced, in that event.
In fact, pic related will not absorb dead skin cells, body fluids.
You could even shit on it and wipe it down.
Solid support for the back...
I'm not seeing the downside.

Make a cot, with a fixed non-folding frame and heavy canvas you can make it as firm as you want, the good air flow beneath does a wonder to keep you cool on a summers nights. Need to retension it a few times a year and replace the fabric a few times a year though.

The key is to get a nice core layer 6-8" thick of high density foam that won't buckle for 15 years (2.8lb+ weight) and then top it with progressively softer materials, I like 3" of Dunlop latex and 2" of talulula latex but you can get away with 3" of mixed or either natural latex if you are on a budget

I've been sleeping on a $60 air mattress I bought online for the past three months and see no reason to "upgrade" to a $1500 or more "sleep system" (mattress, box spring, bed, or $1000 piece of foam plus platform bed) anytime soon. Whatever you're sleeping on, your body will adjust to in a week or two. Back pain is a result of adopting a suboptimal sleeping position regardless of bedding solution, and more importantly, weak back extensor muscles as a result of sedentary lifestyle. Long story short, $60 air mattress, squats, and deadlifts.

This is exactly the final solution to the mattress jew. People keep looking an searching for more and more expensive matresses thinking they'll be more comfortable in them, yet they notice almost no difference. The truth is that these people are unconfortable because they are 250lbs morbidly obese cows that have never lifted anything heavier than a bottle of coke. If you want to be confortable in your sleep, get on a reasonable weight so you won't need a landwhale proof 4k matress, develop your muscles a bit also.

GIS Rope bed. Use 4X4 side boards and lash over the top, not through the sides. Use a 3" spacing max. Lay down cardboard or other to smooth out the ropes and several blankets to top it all off. I slept like this for several years - quite comfy.

This is what I use for camping and guests. The neverflat is a secondary pump that comes on if the pressure falls. It's quiet enough, hasn't woken me up and keeps it nice and firm. I use a car jump starter battery with a built in inverter to blow it up and run the neverflat pump.

For everyday I use an old school mattress/box spring. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I have one of those, it's shit. I even got a zinus super comfort whatever topper, and it's still shit.

Basically they done have enough memory foam, so it doesn't contour enough and you end up with lower back pain (since shoulder and hips can't sink in enough, lower back bends to fill the gap).

Ended up getting another 3" memory foam topper, and having to put in a rolled up towel for lumbar support.

Worst fucking buy ever. It's probably okay if you're fat or skelly, but if you're muscular in any way, you will hate your life.

Comes in a box.
It’s only 8 inches but I’m not a fat ass.

Half spring half memory foam, good deal I’m happy for the price. Hip pains are non existent now. Posture improving each night.
