Might not need a general but I think cool pics and ideas may fill a thread fast. We'll see how it goes and if interest maybe have one up for a bit.

Anyway, it's a long story, but basically childhood memories of catching crawdads (crayfish) combined with the always popular and expensive crawdad boil sent me down the rabbithole to see if i could /diy a crawdad pond and raise enough for a few boils.

Sadly i dont have much land, it is impossible to dig more than 1 foot by hand so dirt or something else would need to be laid on the surface and covered with a pond liner. Add all of the fencing, trash panda, tree rat protection and it seems like way too much time and money to be worth it.

Then i discovered aquarium crawdads in many colors. The "Thunderbolt" crawdads can fetch $75!

I am well aware of the time and money and bs for start up. Already built a crawdad trap witch should just be used for perch i guess...

Been doing extensive research on diy tanks and filters. Etc...

The goal here is to start raising normal crayfish and if successful branch into other colors in doors as a hobby. Self sustaining or possibly profit even would be a much welcomed bonus obviously.

Being a proud hillbilly from burgerland the next obvious step is red, white, and blue crawdads in tanks where the fake plants and sand are the other 2 colors.

After that i will likely set up a dwarf orange system and then try other colors including the awesome thunderbolt crawdads.

If somehow through magic, luck, or determination this all works out i will set up an llc and go commercial.

The final step will be to beg, plead, and wtf ever else to set up a giant Tasmanian crawdad habitat. Even if it costs money and i have to ship all of the extras i get back it would be pretty fucking awesome to have a few for pets and help fight the extinction of them

I have a bunch of ideas already and by random chance a bunch of old windows i was about to toss for some startup aquariums.

Anyone else i to aquariums or have aquarium bros that have advice?

Any fishbros and ideas welcomed.

No experience with these guys other than eating them, but I did have quite a few tanks at one point and made a little money breeding and selling to fish stores.

If I had to give one bit of advice it would be to always have multiple small tanks going on top of your main larger tanks as quarantine tanks for assholes or sick guys. One sick or bully fish can fuck up everything pretty quickly.

Of course, like I said I know nothing about crawdads so this advice could be bullshit.

That's what i hear man. Got well water and diy a bunch of individual tanks if all goes well.

Thanks tho. If things work out i may finally be able to do it full time. Thank god for the internet. My county has 2900 people and the nearest pet store is small and 45 miles away.

I have had a 29 gal planted tank for a few years. It looked really nice when I set it up. Didn't thoroughly inspect and rinse the plants when I got them. Plants had bottle brush algae and Malaysian trumpet snail eggs in them. Shit took over. Been fighting a loosing battle ever since. When the last few fish die I plan on stripping it down and starting over.

Test your well water for copper, it kills invertebrates.

Used to do freshwater and had a 75 gal reef. Know jack shit about crawdad farming, but once caught a gallon of the fuckers with the kid next door.

Good luck anon.

My wife’s boyfriend had a sweet aquarium.

Also /an/ might be of more help than /diy/

>tfw moved and left a nice 75gal setup at the old house because I was too lazy to bring it across the country
And like 3 other tanks. Kept telling people to go grab the stuff if they wanted it before the house got sold and everybody was too lazy. There was also a 1975 Honda Goldwing in there but I couldn’t find the title so nobody wanted it.

Also, for farming and gardening there are these guys and their continual general: >>>/out/1299597 there's a pastebin link in that which has aquaculture and aquaponics links and info that are also suited for crayfish (yabbies) farming.

That sucks.

Should YouTube diy aquarium.

All you need is glass and silicone.

I am going all in. Getting a cuckshead and skidding it onto a cement pad. My bro runs a small business and essentially has build a cement truck on a trailer and i can get cement for wtf ever he pays for truckloads of it.

I mean the tanks themselves aren’t that expensive. Plus you can find used on CL all day because people got lazy and bored or they’re moving. I had a nice Fluval canister filter, solid pine stand, little 6gal Eclipse in the cabinet for iso or feeders, and then another 15gal setup.

I can’t even find any pics of it. I didn’t have it set up for a couple years because I was selling aquariums and fish at work and didn’t want to mess with it at home too.

If you have a hobby and think you will like doing it as a job, it will ruin your hobby. Like the kids on /o/ who like wrenching and become mechanics and then despise fixing their own cars on the weekends.

I truly hate wagecucking and over the years have done SOLID MATH. I make my company well over 20k an hour aster all expences and get paid like 18hr.

I know exactly how, where. And when to cut thier throat and like 9% of thier price and stay operational.

The more i learn the more i realize just how bad i get fucked

you'd probably be well off with big plastic tubs over aquariums to keep costs down. They want ground area to forage around in. Just dump vegetable scraps in, keep temperatures and parameters stable, and you'll have babies eventually.

invertebrates are stupid easy to raise.

Tubs are a good idea. I was considering 55 gal. Drums of maybe galvanized water troughs if they need a little more room. The wife said she didn't want them in the house. Smfh. Agreed to 1 tank so i am going to build a 200gal. Haven't even thought of craigslist. That's a good idea.

Why would anybody lie on the internet?

And I’m moving like $15k/day worth of product but I’m not the ony one involved in the production, sale, advertising, delivery of said product so I’m not abour to claim that I solely make my company $2k/hr. We all want more but I guess my cut at ~$25 an hour is ok.

Fml i wish i wasn't busy and broke for the next few weeks. (Closing costs are a bitch.)

Would it be dumb to use a stand like this for a frame? Silicone all of the glass inside. I could cut and shorten it if need be

Was considering just getting some angle iron and building it myself. I have a spot in my house i think i could build about a 200gal into. It's kind of goofy shaped though.

Is that an aquarium stand? If so, I’m assuming it would be pretty beefy. Regular aquariums are held together by those shitty plastic frames on the top and bottom so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work as long as you get the right glass. Just make sure the bottom is supported well.

>>1415452
$18 for working 50 hours? Fuck that.

And nah, I normally work more than 40. I used to work about 42-45hrs a week and it wasn’t bad because I was home by 3pm most days. But my company has been a bit of a clusterfuck lately so there’s a lot more 50-55 hour weeks. But I guess in my field, ~50hrs is about the typical work week across all different companies. And I waste a few hours a week bullshitting with cute latinas.

Bruh, if I go for white girls, I’ll end up with like a 7/10 and if I grab an 8+, she will be a stuck up bitch with the personality of a wet dish rag. If I go for a Latina, I got these 9+ girls comin onto me. Lots of them are daddy’s girls and they can’t stand the typical 5’6” manlet Latin guy who weighs 135lbs with a bunch of product in their hair. Then they see a blue-eyed American guy who is 6’+ with wide shoulders who knows how to change a flat tire and they start to get wet.

Plus lots of the South American girl are lookin way better than your average Mexican. Colombians, Venezuelans, and some of the Cubans have a bit more Yuro blood in them. And most of them are Catholic so they haven’ been run through by dozens of other dudes before you get em. This one I got now was brand new, zero miles on the odometer before I got it in that sweet, sweet 21yo furburger.

I've had yabbies. They're fun to keep, especially at feeding times. They're quite territorial so make sure there's enough habitat and hiding area. Also, they're very messy and water requires more filtration/changing than it does for fish. Always a hit among guests haha
