Rate my knife sharpening device. And tell me how I can improve it?

Other than your sharpening stone rod being far too fucking long, it looks practical. You could improve the ascetic, of course, and maybe give it legs but honestly, it looks like it works and that's what matters.

Just get a ferro rod. Sharpen while you start your campfire. Kill two birds with one stone.

This is the reason I tell people who have no wrist muscle memory to respect the fact they'll round their shitty knives off without learning how to sharpen.

This is a good rig if you have no previous learning.

Get a protractor/digital level and measure out angles, mark them down on your yoke at various level indicators. That way when you're going to sharpen something like a machete, you can ramp up the angle and kitchen knives all the way down to a much steeper angle.
Not a necessity but if you're looking for improvements and it works so far, its pretty good.

Is there a good way of measuring the angle on a knife?

>> No.1419119

>>1417443
well I would suggest one of those digital protractors that are fairly cheap these days (and acccurate) but I'm not sure you would have a way to hold it on the knife blade.

Veritas does a Bevel Gauge. Never used one, tho.

would those angles even be low enough, though?
looks like those gauges are for chisels, not knives.

They say it starts at 5°. But, again, not an endorsement, as I've never had one.

your ferro rod is too soft, it would take out too much metal.Op you need something like pic related its harder and makes a razor sharp edge
