>Not a single goddamn hardware store in the 3 million person metropolitan area is open at 8 PM on a Sunday

I can understand the local guys being closed, but even the Home Depot? It's a real travesty lads. If I ever run a hardware store it'll be open 24 hours a day. What would your hardware store be like /diy/?

A 24 hour hardware store would be awesome. Imagine what you'd see on the night shift.

I have a family owned Ace and two family owned Tru-Values near me.

They all close by 5 PM M-Sat and are closed on Sunday. Guess what I needed today? A single 2 inch bolt. Had to drive an hour to Home Depot and pay triple what it would be at that Ace.

There’s a 24/7 AutoZone nearby, but even then it’s tricky because they don’t always have the part you need. Otherwise I hate starting projects on a Sunday afternoon for that very reason.

Only hope is finding what you need at one of the big Walmarts.

Yeah selection always changes too. The closest Walmart to me is shitty for lots of stuff so I always go on their website and see if maybe the Supercenters 20min away have it. Otherwise the 24hr Autozone if it’s a car thing or there’s a chance they could have a tool I need. Other than that you better start asking the handy neighbors.

I would love a 24hr Home Depot like they did with the AutoZone. Sure would help when you crack your toilet bowl at 11pm and want a place to shit in the morning. It’s not even all the AutoZones, but there’s the one in the whole county if it’s an emergency.

Woulda loved to be able to hit Home Depot at midnight.

>>1412633
My Ace isn’t nearly that bad but I think they close at 6 or 7 on Saturdays. Had to run there at 6:50pm and they had the registers counted down and wouldn’t even take cash for whatever little bullshit I needed.

That's because plumbers and electricians mostly work those hours.

However, around here, NC, it seems like the big box hardware stores are open for pretty decent hours.

Would buy the local one that has been open since 1879 and is currently for sale. 250k plus all inventory.

Online system. Free delivery in town and $10 a mile outside of town if $50 order or more.

Slash rape prices.

Buy all supplies off internet so can make same profit.

Use included lumber yard to build house and shop onto hardware store

Fuck everyone else. I will be open for me 24/7 for free.

Have minimum wage kid just shitpost or homework in night shifts. Open 6am-6pm m-f. Open saturday and sunday but price doubled. Open 6pm-6am but prices trippled.

We 45 miles from a lowes.

Anons can get a fucking $3 part and not drive 45 miles. Happily pay $9 to have the shitter working and not drive 45 fucking min 1 way.

To prevent theft despite being open 24 hours and having effectively zero staff due to making no more money than common hardware stores, it would have to be one mile-long hall with nothing but 20-ft cabinets and drawers of merchandise. I'm trying to think of the movie with an image in mind but I can't place a name to the scene.

Second shift is easy but it’s a bitch to find somebody willing to work third shift and hang around unless you pay a good rate compared to other retail. Plus you need a weekend overnight person too.

Amazon is getting there. Some areas you can get free next-day delivery if you have Prime and order by like 10pm. My brother was getting that in Orlando. And there’s Sun delivery now too on lots of thing if you place the order by midnight on Fri night in my area.

>>1413032
Yeah but third shift in a warehouse or mill will normally earn you a real paycheck. People think you can hire an overnight cashier for $8/hr. You can get HS bag boys for that but people aren’t gonna work 40+ hours doing that to themselves very long unless they can pay the bills. The gas station will pay their daytime dude $9/hr but it takes like $15hr to keep somebody there at 3am.

I feel sorry for our warehouse guys building pallets and loading trucks overnight. I guess at least they come in like 5pm and get done closer to 2am but there’s some days where the guys are still loading at 6am. They’re paying em closer to $20/hr at least.

Protip: They're already as quick as they're gonna be as far as shipping goes. The sweatshop conditions and treatment within their warehouses is an entirely separate story. They pimp out the postal service for most deliveries and how much more potential does the postal service have? Mmmhmm. Short of creating their own courier and doubling the amount of warehouse locations, there's not much more blood in that turnip.
