Show us what you've been working on. Pic related, I built a stand today for my outboard motor. I use my trolling motor for an electric only lake and I needed somewhere to put this in the meantime. Cost was free, I just used some scrap lumber I had lying around.

Thumbnail looks like an odd cardboard cat thing. Kek.

Got a few going on. Pic related is a digital control box for a lead pour pot for casting sinkers and bullets at an appropriate temperature without fiddling with the knob constantly and checking the thermometer.

The other is a 2 inch water pump. Fucking tired of work taking my water pump here. And then when i do have one it is a giant pain in the ass to drag massive hoses around alone and hook up alone. Figure they wouldn't care or might even be excited if i can handle it myself. They blew one up last year and something fell and crushed the other one. Water pumps are becoming the 1 toy 5 kids fight over. Figure if i build my own toy then everyone else can fight over em and not get mine. My dad came up with a 13.7hp Perkins deisle motor. A buddy runs a small oil company and just happend to have a massive fucking water pump laying around. Northern tool has a 2 inch pump head that i figured would work fine but this big bastard looks like too much fun. The sumbitch runs up to 4,000psi... don't need to pump giant hole out often. Maybe 1 or 2 times a year. But when i do it takes a 10" pump running 24/7 for 2 weeks. 2" will take forevor but idgaf. Daisy chaining like 10 - 55 gallon drums together for a fuel tank and just have a fuel tanker come by once a week. The best part tho is it doubles as a 4,000 psi power washer. It's already plumbed for it.

Its going to be fun at the lake running that thing for mister bars all day. Been on the lookout for a water cannon turret from an old firetruck.

Oh, also building an electric drift trike since the local biker rally that had their last rally ever last year is apparently kicking off again. About as much redneck fun as anywhere on earth. Already got a washing machine tub and push mower for a fire pit.

Thanks to a thread from the other day my wife got my hopes up and then crushed my soul yesterday saying i could build us a mutherfuckng castle to live in and then saying she wants a wrap around deck and they look funny on a castle. pre formed concrete blocks and local sourced river rock to coblestone it. I told her fine. Wtf ever. Instead of a shop now i will have a fucking castle to tinker in with a mote and working drawbridge and look down on her normie house and laugh. Got a hookup on every aspect and so far it looks attainable soon if i do most of it myself. Gonna pracice and build the neices and nephews a play castle scaled down. Wife has such a big family we have a monthly reunion and half the town comes to hang out. Probably double as a pump house for the water well and mowers and shit when the kids arent around. Issue: It's made from MDF I wanted oak but money is tight, I know MDF fickle about liquids getting on it, as it expands and reacts to that shit fast.

So how do I seal this? Is there any product recommendations that /diy/ have?

>> No.1377676

>>1377670

1. replace that two by four on the left so that the old holes don't cause a problem

2. make a "casing" using 1x2 or whatever to put on the face of the box.

3. like when you hang a door, put short screws in the hinges that go into the 1x2 with the door either level or a tiny bit tilted up. then release the door and if it sags, shift the 1x2 "casing" until the door is perfect. then put long screws that go through the 1x2 into the 2x4.

>> No.1377680

I get what you're saying with everything but the casing. You're talking about building another frame attaching it to the main body and hanging the door off that? And rotating that to get everything level?

>> No.1377684

>>1377680
>And rotating that to get everything level?

exactly. it could probably be 1/2" thick and still work. The basic idea is that the door and hinges and that one piece on that side are a stable unit that can be rotated to make the door perfectly positioned. I shouldn't have used the word casing, I suppose, but I was picturing how they hang doors; they stick the door and casing in the hole and then use shims to square it up, and then they replace the short temporary hinge screws one by one by long ones that go through the casing into the framing.

In your case I was picturing the thin piece going all the way around to simplify things, but any approach that lets you rotate an assembly will work.

I got a skateboard to turn into an electric board. I recently pulled a free wheel of a child bike and I'm working on extracting the engine out of a weed whacker.

I'll probably heighten the trucks and find a way to chain this all together. Probably going to use as much of the control mechanisms from the weed whacker for now.

I'm hoping I have some sort of compatibility without things getting too expensive. The weed whacker is 18v and my batteries are 25v. The motor is probably brushed and my controller is for brushless.

I think I'm going to end up buying a charger for the weed whacker for the prototype to avoid dealing with incompatibilities like that.

If the prototype goes well I'll probably just invest in a proper 25v brushless motor.

I work on high quality boats every day so this one is actually being slapped together extremely sloppily and as fast as possible. Maybe if I get a job away from boats I'll do a really nice build in the future but I honestly just want to have it on the water for crab and salmon season.

As for price, the original goal was to be $500 not including what I already had(3/4 Okoume for the transom, West Systems Epoxy, and some fiberglass). In reality the boat will cost me 1k including the motor by going through a vintage outboard club. If I came in with no materials or experience I think the Tillamook costs around $1,500 to build the hull and then however much more for the motor but it depends on what quality of materials you use.

So, I've been wanting to fix my DS Lite to play Fire Red. The top screen basically doesn't have a hinge anymore and the bottom screen has a shit ton of scratches.
Realized that Nintendo doesn't give a shit about this console anymore. So I bought a new shell and screens from amazon and looked up some youtube vids. This'll be my first DIY project.

Have any of you done this before? Let a lad know what he's in for.

Will post results on Friday if this thread is still around.

It should look like pic related if done properly.

Yeah, I bought a 2nd dsl for $5 but it had a fucked case. The hard part is that ribbon cable in the hinge on the left, be super careful not to tear or crease it.

This is about as safe as we can get without wearing flash suits.

My ex navy electrician buddy built it so I don't know all the electrical terms but basically power runs from the house to the machine. Machine has a ready switch, and a footswitch that allows power to the 15amp fuse and then to the transformer and out to the leads.

The footswitch is like what you'd find in a sewing machine, it has to be depressed to allow the current to go. Kind if like a dead mans switch I guess.

I did use a legit break, breaking 1/8 aluminum can be a little hard but the box is only 2ft wide so it can totally be done with a home made break. Such as 2 pieces of stong angle iron, one with holes on the ends so you can put bolts to clamp down to the end of a table and weld a hinge so the bottom angle iron can pivot. I hope my explanation was clear even though it probably wasent. Also i got the materal from a big company that requires big orders, but you could get that from a place such as metal supermarket. They sell small stuff to consumers

> Make 2 Slots use Velcro battery straps..
I have a bunch of neodymium magnets, but not sure if I should try them.

>Also what servos are you going to use?
SR403P, 14 kg/cm, the legs are ~20 cm long, meaning each leg can handle ~0.5kg of weight, meaning 3kg in total.

>And what are you gonna use to run it? Phoenix code?
I guess my very own C++. It has raspberry pie for head brains and "veyron servo driver" for spine brains. The idea is to create a physx simulation in unity, and load a code in it in form of a library, see vid related. Then, once tested, test on a real hardware using literally same library.

>Is it going to be 3d printed or routed from aluminium?
Laser cut 2mm aluminium. Not sure if it handle the weight though.

>And post pictures of how it looks.
I guess I have to figure out a whole design first, now I stuck with how to place an antenna. It has two 1mm holes in the pcb, and I haven't used screws this thin. I can't just screw it to aluminium, I need some spacing n shit.

Wired up a new outlet in the basement for a computer, but after I rewired 3 boxes in series, I realized the old white was 12 gauge and the white I used was 14. Almost let it go, but realized the current flowed through that to feed 2 other rooms, not the reverse. So I ripped all that out and did it right. 30 minute job ended up taking 3 hours.
Then I did some trim work, but my dumbass kept cutting the wrong angle.
Then I cut grass and it was 85% humididy.

Anyway, I played with some more resin tonight and hopefully I got the mix right. The smaller one I poured the other night either soaked the resin in or I guess it rolled off because it wasn't level. I don't think I have to worry too much about them being level with this pour though.

I've been trying to adapt an old electronic typewriter keyboard to usb. I mapped the original pcb, figured out it's pulsed via a demultiplexer, then mapped each key with a dmux input and a 5 bit output to the original mcu. I wanted to use as much of the original electronics as possible and as it sits, only the old NEC chips needed to be pulled.

I wasted like a week trying to get an NXP ARM mcu working for hid then said fuck it and went to an Arduino, only I couldn't put the usb serial bootloader on to one uno, and couldn't get it off the other to program it, so I'm programming the blue uno with the black uno via Arduino as ISP.

So far I have most keys except modifiers working but response time is shit so I have some actual usb ready avr boards in the mail to continue this with a little more grace.

I doubt it will be a practical keyboard but once I make a case for it, it will sure be a conversation piece.

Was synthetic marble a thing in the late 18th century? This building predates ww1 by quite a bit.

Finished this the other night.

Not doing another one on plywood, but learned a few good lessons for next time. Don't need near as much resin as you think you will because you WILL be sanding it off, you idiot.

No more plywood, no matter how nice it is. You will fuck up and sand through the top layer and ruin the grain of the piece.

Next piece will be with wood out of an antique armoire. I think it's oak, but not sure. My father saved it from a burn pile about 15 years ago and it's been in his she'd ever since.

Use a heat gun or that "ice weave" stuff to get it clearer when it sets. That looks like jizz/hotglue.

What you're seeing is the glow powder I got from Amazon. I didn't have any other dyes so I just went with it. This is as clear as it's going to get, hit it with a butane torch and everything. I can still sand it some more and polish it up but it's going to look cloudy.

Ordering different powders next time. Not disappointed with the glow on this though. Just don't care for the green/white color during the day.

Wait, I misread your post. Either way, next project will have actual color during the day.

Controlled by an Arduino and connected to a DSLR camera. It's for a friend of me who does allot of highres 360 product photography. So it turns the disk a bit, makes a photo, turns again, photo and so on. Also added BT module to it and wrote an phone App to control it.

fair play for the reaction and securing the weapon however realistically i would have been either on the phone or ordering someone else to call for medical attention. can't go around letting people just bleed out or go kicking him when he's down fuck sake.

Why not? Because the law will come after you?

Bought a classic skil jigsaw at a pawn shop for 15 bucks. Got blades for it today and tried it out so I made these table saw pushers. Also learned how to wrap handles which was neat.
