Never been in any skidloader besides a CAT. Spend several thousand hours in the mutherfucker fighting frostbite and silicosis tho. To my knowledge still hold the record of a 6 mile wheelie before the boss showed up and almost fired my ass. Idgaf. That was the shitiest job i ever had.

Ran a hitachi ex1100 shovel. Baby cat 345 hoe, and 100 ton haul trucks.

Kek. Or any equipment operating job really.

I used to chase around automated forklifts when the pieces of shit first came out and some engineers mentally retared pet opossum wrote the program to run them. When things were slow i would help my bro in another department. I built a platform on back to stand on and would run the automated ones with the remote so he would get bonuses and his guys could take turns on 15 minute breaks. Hated that place and my boss was a cuck. Had 7 bros ready and when the dat came and the owner showed up to see the fuckery i was up to he flipped shit. We all played dumb and said my boss had bro weld platforms to them all and told us to drive them like that. Boss got fired and then i got fired you yelling "serves you right you gay ass faggot!" Really loud. Owner was also a cuck and a litteral faggot. I told him to go fuck his faggot boyfriend and fuck off and leave us alone.

I'm really not an asshole. But there is no reason to treat employees like shit. Treat them well, pay them well, and then hire quality workers. More than pays for itself in lack of theft, increased productivity, increased moral, less abuse on work equipment, etc....

THAT IS FUNNY! Nearest guess we all agreed the haul road was 2 miles one 1. Made it 3 times and got bisted like a few hundret feet from the end after a down and back trip.

Not much to brag about sadlym. Once you get a feel for it just take the bucket off and raise the arms all of the way up. The natural balence and hydrostatic drive makes it a cakewalk. I did the math. Was going for 100 before quitting time. One of my ex co workers was an absolute snitching cocksucker tho.

Also, anyone here ever run a wheel loader that doesn't want to bludgeon the engineer who decided a steering wheel is a good idea?

HA! i used to not give a fuck. Jobs are pkentiful when you are /fit, /young, and have a group of bros that make up fake businesses and references.

That same place with the forklifts i used to "borrow" always had a bunch of gaylords. Yes, they exist besides name calling. Who knew? Well, me and a few brow worked there. Me and 1 bro ran 1 machine in 12 hour shifts. Mutherfucker ran almost 3 years 24/7 with onky me and bro running it. Well, our other bro was supposed to help but he never did.

Well, one time he pissed me off, didn't help like always, and then had nerve enough to grab his coat and take a nap in a half empty gaylord on the 2nd floor.

I cut the wire to all of my lights and beepers and gently set a full pallet on top of his ass and then wire nutted my shit back together.

Taught his ass. He dug a hole in the back of it and spent 19 hours trying to get hold of someone that wouldn't snitch and could help him down.

I miss being a dumb ass kid. Phone bill and beer money was all that i had to worry about.

I'm looking to buy a used skid steer. What's the Mid-90s Benz equivalent of skid steers?

I plan on using it maybe a hundred hours a year for trail upkeep, tires not tracked, forklift replacement, and to build a small house. My main worries are access to cheap parts and ability to wrench on myself.
It seems anything that runs is going to be >$7000usd. Currently looking at late 90s/early 2000s Case products.

A backhoe is the universal modular piece of equipment. Most construction companies start with a backhoe even before a skid steer.

Though you do mention farm so if you plan on doing much more farming you can get shit done with a tractor and attachments. But if no farming then I would say even a babby backhoe makes the most sense.

We also get stuff from the local chains if we need really special stuff. Last one was a kubota 008 mini ex before that was a 8ton wacker ex. Also rent skid steer implements when needed breakers and special buckets.
To reply to op i like all the bobcat equipment we use and the guy that owns them seems to have good luck with them. I would put all the kubota stuff we rent on the same level as far as opertion. Good on you anon. Now when peers bitch about how hard mowing lawns is or customer service is you can stifle a laugh because you know what real work is like.

When oil crashed in the 80s the faggots at my school said my dad would lose his job. I was worried about it and asked. His answer surprised me. Meh, i dont know. I wouldnt worry about it tho. All you have to do is work harder than anyone else and you will always have a job.

Sure as shit he was right. Company he worked 20 years for folded. He freelance mechaniced for 3 times what he made on the rig, and then a local oil business picked him up. He runs it now. And he is now boss of his old bosses. And those guys bought that old rig. Dad knows any and every problem that can happen and runs it with lever jockeys and a cell phone.

He was right. But all working hard ever got us was broken and old prematurely. I still have that mentality but i am working a different way. Work overtime every week and work even more hours for myself buying and creating assets.

My peers are gambling stocks and "saving for retirement."

I am possibly buying two rental units this week and by next month have enough worl done to them i can rent them out for a lot higher but still fair price than as is. Spend $1,000 and have them reapraised for near double.
