Those are dents caused by something that entered the cylinder, probably some metallic object, maybe a rock if you were not using an air filter. Check if your carburator is missing any parts. You can change the piston and piston bearing and buy a new cover, maybe resurface the walls if they're also damaged.

obviously you didnt put something back in properly.

Just use your moms hair dryer as an engine it will probably be a lot more powerful but it will get you around for a while

>> No.1348641

thats what i thought too but all the parts were in working order. i thought that the needle bearing had failed in the connecting rob and the bearings were rattling around but it was in perfect order. even the cylinder walls were okay even after all this damage too.

rebuilding an engine doesnt make it new, it makes it rebuilt.

also you obviously fucked something up... I am glad you didnt rebuild my engine, I would be pissed

Something got in there. Are the piston rings intact?

wow what gr8 advice thnks so much senpai. Fuck me eh for trying to rebuild a little 50cc engine for a bike thats been in the family for thirty years. fuck me for trying to do something productive and learn small engine repair. do it yourself? naw i guess i should just chuck it out then.

>> No.1348670

>>1348666
ya the rings are fine. History of the engine: the old needle bearing gave out and shot little bearings everywhere destroying the cylinder and piston. cleaned out the crank as best i could and put a oem kit in it. i think that a bearing must have still been in the case...

>> No.1348671

>>1348667

yes fuck you for fucking up that engine from whatever got inside of it and fucked it up. i suggest taking the rest of the engine and just sticking it up your ass

As a precaution you replace the needle bearing when changing cylinders, they cost only a couple of bucks.
Maybe a specialized shop could help you fix the cylinder lid, but second hand replacements are dirt cheap, at least where I live, you can buy a motor for like 80€.

>> No.1348687

>>1348670
Do a complete rebuild, new top end (or clean it up as best you can) and do all new bearings. Junk gets trapped in bearings and can end up in the cylinder in a 2 stroke depending on the design.

Good luck. Luckily these things are cheap.

It's literally your fault for not rebuilding it properly, I doubt that would have happened had you not rebuilt it.

But what moped was it?

well since its just some shitty 2-stroke, you can get a new honda engine for like 400$. from my understanding honda are the only company that make reliable small engines

This.

>carburator is missing any parts
Kind of doubt that, there really isn't much in teh flow path there. My bet is piston, cylinder skirt, maybe crank bearing.

>>1348641
Check the bottom of the piston. Those pieces came from something.

>>1348670
I think you just found your answer.

Pic kinda related.

You fucked up the family engine bro. Now you have to take it to a shop and get it bored out honed and resurfaced. Get a titanium value in there too. Also ask for a 50 shot of nos.

Split the engine case and clean the inside good so it won't happen again.
If you're cheap you could sand down the high spots in the head. Maybe the piston too if there are no cracks in it. But best would be to get new ones, part for mopeds are dirt cheap.

Rebuilt a Ford 351 . As a rule a mechanic always shoves a rag into the intake / carb etc...until the air cleaner is on. Not this time. Once I was finished putting everything back together the nut for the air cleaner was missing. Fuck!...What to do?..Tore the top end back down and low and behold there it was in the head setting on the intake valve. No idea how it got there. Think a fellow mechanic was trying to get me fired. Since I was paid by flag hour I lost my ass on this one.

>> No.1349474

>>1349176
This. Expect needle bearing parts were in bottom end and came up. Splitting the case is a job though... I'd rinse out the bottom end with gasoline and dump out... get the metal out that way.

That sucks man, but you've learned an important lesson about not cutting corners when it comes to rebuilding an engine.

There's always someone with nothing to contribute, just ignore him. Easy with the n word bro, this is /diy/ not /b/. I understand it was probably a moment of frustration, but try to be above that. Sounds like you just caught some bad luck but it's an easy enough fix. Keep us posted with a rebuild thread when you fix it
