Anyway, you fucking fairy. Connect the old drive to your computer internally or externally, then do the same with the new drive. Get a linux live cd and use the "dd" command in a terminal window to make an exact copy from the old drive to the new (google how to use that command), assuming both drives have the same capacity.

10: let it sit in DISTILLED water for a while (like days).
Agitate the water.
Then do it again with fresh DISTILLED water.

Videotape the above process. Save the piss-water for when your friend comes over and gets thirsty. After friend has consumed all the piss-water send him the video of you collecting it.

Anyway, that will dissolve the (conductive) minerals and salts in the water. Those minerals got under the BGAs so it will take a while to get it out.

Then, let it DRY completely! I mean *completely* Wait days if you need to. Keep it warm if you need to. Use a fan. Wash it with 99.9% isopropyl alcohol if you're in a hurry.

Inspect board, to confirm that it looks absolutely mint and there is no residue whatsoever. If there is, GOTO 10.

The best way was already mentioned. remove hardrive, buy usb to sata or what ever version hdd it is and copy data to a pc then to a flash drive that you can then load back on to your new xbox.

no some of that was good business sense. the original xbox 360s only worked with a limited number of hard drive types for good reason. people try to swap out parts like that, their chinkypoo discount or secondhand drive craps out then it doesnt boot. then they have to argue with the customer over why their 3rd party part isnt covered by warranty.

consoles are sold at a loss. they are a DRM box. the whole idea is that you buy games to play on them so part of that business model is making them only able to play games you didnt just pirate on the DRM box they just lost money on giving it to you.
