Has anyone here built one of these pressurized van solar showers?
I started one with schedule 40 ABS but it seems so thick that it would insulate the water from the heat.
How hot do these get anyway?
Any info would be great

Can you guys help me diy bettèr threads?
Did my subject just suck/boring?
Bad pic to lead with?

It is a slow board, saturday, and a specific topic.

Thread opener is fine, buddy.

>> No.1280870

I don't think insulation would be a problem. If the entire outer surface of the tubing is heated to a certain temperature by the sun, the only difference thermal conductivity makes is how long it takes to heat up. (I don't really have any experience with these types of things, but that's my intuition from physics.)

Thanks guys.
I have been reading up and the prefab ones are made of aloominum because it conducts the heat better.
I am looking to see if all the unions and whatnot are available in schedule 30

That does make a lot more sense. Paint it black though so you still get it absorbing the heat instead of reflecting it.

I do know poly pipe left in the sun will produce water hot enough to burn you.

You can get scd 80, 40, and vent pipr thicknesses i believe anywhere.

More thinner pipe would heat faster

>> No.1282618

Just use the 40 anon. If it gets over 80 for a few hours your shower be fine.

12v is 12v, use a fuse? Your question is vague. Use a battery, solar cell that can fun that fan for two days. Mppt charger is nore efficient than pwm, mo money

Look out for the reflective shield that goes behind the tubular garage heaters try and find one being scrapped out, or perhaps look for a light reflector... put that under your pvc heater and you’ll probably get better results... also I suspect thinner pipe would take less time to heat but thicker pipe would retain heat better.. trade offs in both directions...

After half a day of research, I picked up something on eBay.

> Model 39205 Adjustable Fan Switch / snap disc
Close on Temperature Rise

I'm making pic related and going to (hopefully) funnel hot, fresh air into my basement. Others power a fan and thermostat (to prevent cold air either at night or during clouds) on 110v, but I have 2 panels, so why not put those to use as well. Just takes a small PC fan.

Use coils of poly in black plactic-wrapped pallets with either gravity or a solar pump to move the shit and youre on your way. You can link them indefinitely and stack them accordingly.

Pipe diameter/meterials chosen depends on run length/uv exposure and scales accordingly.

Remember a ptr valve you cheap fuckwits or your ghetto rig will explode hot shit onto some poor punter

Im a green plumber and charge like a wounded bull to do this shit for you.

I was driving behind a 4x4 and he had made a square ov pic piping around his roof rack. Never seen it before but the tap on the end made me think water heater. It seemed to be made of pvc drainage pipe painted black and his rig looked like it has seen some off road.

But this is Australia and you woul rather have a cool shower than a hot one!
