Just an experiment, and just to see how people use or not use it.

Optimally find a nice big area and have the box plugged in but hidden perhaps in an office or something.

It would be preloaded with all sorts of movies, tv shows, books, etc... and people are free to dump their shit and download. Periodically drop by and see if anyone has done so.

I dunno, i really only thought of it when i first arrived here and saw the GEMA shit on youtube.

Please don't take that guy's shit as what hackerspaces are actually about.

All it is intended to be is a place where people can learn and experiment. A good example of a hacker space (and description of said hacker space) can be read on the HackerDojo page:

That's it. That's all. People put on events there, people give classes there, people come there to have access to equipment, some companies actually started by working directly out of there, and sometimes people headhunt there.

Another good example is TechShop, which is much more tool and equipment oriented.

I just got home from my local hackerspace!

Its called Heatsync labs. It seems like its mostly programmers and computer people but we have:

- A handful of small electric lathes
- A few crummy band saws
- radial arm saw
- Enormous industrial lathe
- mill
- Computer controlled laser cutting machine
- 3 3d printers
- HAM radio
- Home made electron micro scope.
- Welding gear

I am not sure exactly about the laser cutter. I have seen it, its physically huge, and I know everyone was really excited when we got it. Apparently we had to save up for quite some time to get it.

We have a few maker bots, and a reprap. Not all of them could be said to be the lab's. But more like regulars there own a few and so there are always some in there.
