I want this sofa badly, unfortunately it seems that it never went into production.
Any chance I could /diy/ my own ? I have no experience but I suppose the difficult part would be the tunnel
If any anon has any clue on where to begin, my cat and me would be grateful!

the blocks can be just foam

the tunnel bit can be fabric covering some flexible ducting

You'd need some experience in upholstery & sewing, and maybe some woodworking. Not much though. How much are you willing to spend on this? Time, effort (including several attempts and learning/researching), space for working in your home, money for tools and material.
You could also try to rig it together with existing parts. I.e. find a couch that looks similar and attach a standard plastic tube. Or any couch that you can modify.

I think the lower block should be solid for it to be comfortable to sit on.

I don't think my cat would be able to climb that vertical section >_<

>> No.1156386

>>1156380
cats can climb any vertical sections you think it can't

The tunnel has to serve as the back as well, even rigid HVAC tubing is going to buckle when you put your weight on it.

AFAICS you'd need to use something like sewage pipe, although those bends might be hard to find. Then cut it in half and put hinges on so you can put lining in and get it inside to clean it.

What if the cat barfs or poops inside the tube? Is it possible to reach in there and clean it?

>>1156390
looks like it is in removable sections, probably velcrod together

Kill the cat, or starve it until it eats the shit/barf.

A single 90 degree bend section of 315 mm PVC tubing is over a 100 bucks BTW.

Cardboard concrete form tubes or pvc. Carpet glue. Carpet store remnents or carpet from a lowes or something.

Some sort of plastic corrugated drain pipe would be the in between.

Maybe osb and a nail gun if u really wanna get down but it wont be rounded much

>> No.1156517

>>1156440
I'd probably not bother going rounded and just do the back/piping as squared, much easier to manufacture and upholster yourself that way. Plus you could make it more rigid for cheaper than the tubing.

>> No.1156558

>>1156359
Does it need to look round? If you make the tube a square structure, you're gonna have a much easier life.

Ah
The same downfall that Discovery Zone had

>> No.1156625

>>1156380
just need to put something inside the tube that the cat can get a grip on... heck even a piece of carpet or something just in the vertical part would be enough.

>> No.1156626

>>1156389
what about those cardboard times for concrete and hvac for bends

this makes the most sense for the least 'cents'.

Even if square is too boring, you could do hexagonal even with just a jigsaw for the miters (not an ideal tool, but the cheapest).

Too true, anon

>acquire 1 section of plastic sewer pipe and 4 90's
>build box from wood and plywood
>acquire foam blocks
>cover in padding and fabric

tada

OP, are you also going to DIY the blower add-on unit for the center section that will turn your sofa into a cat cannon?

If not, I got some patenting to do...

Don't forget a bolt action cat loading mechanism at the top window.

trying to do accurate matching bevel cuts with a jigsaw will drive you nutz. especially for a novice.
besides the cat won't care if its tunnel is round square or hex.
