OKAY so I have some crystals.

now what? I'm up for every suggestion which excludes consumption or supposition.

I've collected most of my crystals myself, some were gifts.estimated 100-150 crystals/precious gems.

I'm not adverse to healing or meditative arrays and stuff like that. I have a lot of room to work with in a comfortable environment.

So lay it on me broh! What /x/ related can I do with my crystals?

well, science, I'm sure you can put a display of geological growth patterns and planes of fracture, etc in the examples. lineal cleavage plane in graphite and mica, tetrahedral crystal formation in diamond, hexahedral formation in quartzite crystals.

you might be able to use a few for light diffraction for demonstrations of 16-17th Century Opticks, in the style of Newton.

Medicine? Ah. well, if you think that crystals actually DO anything, then you're a fucking retard. take then and stick them in a display of Bullshit woo, with reiki aura healing, astrology, homeopathy, and faith healing.

No idea for your cool shell as im no biologist, but as for why crystals have well-defined angles between their faces:
At the microscopic level, the crystal structure, which is made up of zillions of repetitions of the same building block(group of atoms) filling space, is symmetric. For example, if you fill up space with these building blocks, then rotate it by 90-degrees and the resulting structure is the same, the structure is 4-fold symmetric along the axis of rotation (like a square).

Now, when a crystal is growing some crystal faces grow faster than others, but since the underlying structure is symmetric, some of those faces are equivalent (like the faces of a cube), and grow at the same rate. Very soon the fastest-growing faces will outgrow the others and they will be all that remains, resulting in a symmetric pattern.

Finally, you may notice that there are only a few "special" angles (90 and 60/120) that seem to be favored when a crystal is symmetric (e.g. there are practically no 5-sided crystals). Turns out that for the building blocks to fill space without gaps, only 2-fold, 4-fold, and 6-fold symmetries work. Ofc there are also crystals with different angles. These are not symmetric. Yet, if their faces grow at similar rates, often you can tell the angles in the building block by looking at the angles between the faces

There is thermodynamic energy at phase boundaries (J/m^2 in dimensionally), for gas-liquid boundaries it's called surface tension.
