Hey /diy/, wanna help me out?

I've never really done anything myself, just necessary things. I've always been interested, but I only recently moved into a place that has a shed with a huge workbench. So as summer is approaching, I want to find some kickass projects to do in my shed/backyard.

I'm pretty terrible at woodwork, yet I can get my hands on power tools if need be. Never worked with metal, I tried making a tin bird house in eighth grade and gave up and failed the class. In high school I was the only one in the school who knew how to run the tech system, so I ended up with a lot of basic electricians shit, plus I was always stuck as head carpenter for the drama club and had to fix prop doors and couches and shit.

So I have some ideas for some projects, and maybe you could give some more? Keep in mind I'm basically a beginner and will probably fuck up the easiest things, so keep it light

I'm going to make a hollow book using this method http://how2dostuff.blogspot.ca/2006/02/how-to-make-secret-hollow-book.html

I want to try paint swirling, but I don't know what I should try it with, or if it's even easy enough?

Any ideas or tips would be appreciated!
