Yes, but not as nice as fresh rosin from conifer trees. I did solder with fresh rosin from my backyard and it's really nice. I think the heat treatment which is required for filtering / purifying makes it lose a lot of aroma.

Yes, that's it. I use 99,99% isopropyl alcohol, it takes a few days for it to dissolve. You could use ethanol instead of isopropyl alcohol, but I used what I already had.

I filled one of these 100ml plastic bottles with a dropper tip that you can squeeze to dispense the viscous rosin/alcohol mixture.
