Depends, do you want to have your own custom colors and animations, or do you just want one solid color?

If you want custom stuff you need to program it yourself and control it with a uC like an arduino or something similar. Otherwise, pick up any generic remote because they all work the same.

Not hard at all. Using some WS2812s and one arduino you can control an infinite amount of lights. Alternatively you could use 5050s and forego the microcontroller for a common off the shelf controller, but you could only get all solid lights rather than patterns and individual control.

That's interesting. I might actually take this project up now seeing how easy it would be to disconnect and reconnect the lights.

Christmas lights are always comfy, no matter the time of the year. I wouldn't use them as a replacement for normal lighting, as normal lighting can have utility.

No worries. Is it a sign as well? I have other ideas to make with it, but for now I'm working on the assembly guide for instructibles.

Thanks m8. I'm working on the guide for it now. I figure I'll never get to the final revision of the code for it, so I'm just going to make the guide and post some simple function/effects and let people figure their own out.

Yes. The only way to get that is by using the WS2812s and a uC to dictate the intensity of each RGB LED.

That's a 3D printed sign with LEDs. I can't into actual neon because I can't get a bombarding transformer. Everything else is available.

I don't know if it's because our technology is so bland, or that our image of the future is so grim. You're right that the 80's image of the future was very optimistic and hopeful.

>>1247134

Spot on about the furniture, you're basically going to have to design it yourself. Everything now is in that bland "modern" style.

Super cool. Natural PLA? I made a sign and LEDs doing the same thing.

>60mA for an LED

I was using RGBs WS2812bs at full power as an example. They are 60mA at 100% power on each LED on the die.

Not that I know of. I'm not sure how Alexa works but you will probably need to be able to capture the data Alexa sends out through the RPi or be able to teach Alexa how to output a certain signal that the RPi can recognize.
