IME, the Irwin knockoff pliers wrench isn’t that bad considering they’re half the price. I have the Lenox version from Lowe’s with the big jaw and I have used that one pretty hard on some plumbing stuff and it’s still going strong.

Same with the Irwin Groovelock pliers, those are copies of the Knipex Cobras. When they’re on sale like an 8” and 10” 2pk for $15-$20, it’s a good buy, however the Cobras are really really good and when you’re doing the shittiest 5% of jobs where you really need to grab on to some mangled shit, the Knipex Cobras have a leg up on the Irwins. The Cobras have some of the hardest and sharpest jaws so they grip unlike other affordable brands and they stay sharp for years. The Pliers Wrench, the jaw hardness doesn’t really matter. I would spend the extra money on the Cobras over the Irwin Groovelocks, but if I was on a budget and wanted the Pliers Wrench, the Irwins aren’t bad considering they’re $30 less.

Harbor Freight has copies of both tools as well under the Icon and Doyle brand and they’re not terrible. Knipex had an edge but if you can’t spend the money, the HF version is better than nothing.

Considering the Irwin stuff is 1/3 the price, this is somewhat true.
