No need to buy a spare when I don't like it as much as the original. Price is not the issue. Prior to finding this hammer I bought a $100+ Picard 795 (actually two, this one and one with the fiberglass handle over the steel shank). I like the HF framing hammer more.

Reasons I like it more:
1) larger strike surface.
2) magnetic nail start feature is very close to strike surface (means you can start short nails with the magnet, with most hammers one cannot).
3) heavier, which is a feature when swinging your hammer sideways in 4" of space to move a PT 2x12 in place.
