-On that note, do not trade health for savings. Do not start buying $0.30 burritos and $0.60 chip bags because they seem cheap and easy to prepare. You will lower your overall health and medication prices in the future will bite you in the ass. I buy frugally, but I only buy things that will fuel my body well, even if that means spending a little extra on my food. Look at it this way: if you don't buy soda or chips or cakes, the money that would be going there can get you leaner pound of hamburger or chicken breasts instead of thighs.

-Buy in bulk and freeze your food! It's almost always cheaper in the long run to buy in bulk, but if you can't eat it all before it spoils, freeze it. I live alone, but when I buy meat, I generally buy four pounds of hamburger, and 16+/- chicken breasts at once. I take them home and immediately portion them out in freezer baggies, write the bag's contents and the date on the bags in permanent marker, force the air out of the bags, and slam them in the freezer. I also buy a loaf of wheat bread and pop that right in there, too. That way, a loaf can last months, even if I'm slow with eating it. And when I need bread, I either put what I need our to thaw, or defrost it in the microwave for 15 seconds. Meats, veggies, and grains can go a long way if kept frozen.

-Cutting unneeded stuff like smoking and drinking out is great on saving money, as well as health. I stopped drinking about a year ago, and I don't miss it any more at all. On top of feeling like shit less often, it's freed up more money I can invest in better food & utilities.
